🚨NEWS: UK iPhone users must now prove their age or lose full internet access "It is absolutely outrageous that, overnight, Apple has put a chokehold on Britons' freedom to search the internet, access information and use apps unless they provide sensitive ID documents. This means 35 million Brits who have paid hundreds or even thousands of pounds for Apple tech suddenly now have a child's device unless they comply with invasive demands for personal information that go far beyond what UK law requires. Apple has crossed the Rubicon with this software update which is more like ransomware, holding customers hostage to ID demands that are invasive, exclusionary and unnecessary. Children's online safety is vital but requires better parental controls and thoughtful tech responsibility - not sweeping, draconian, shock demands by foreign companies for all of our IDs and credit cards." - Silkie Carlo [@silkiecarlo]

Official statements placing U.S. forces in the area – along w/ analysis of social posts, videos, sat. images – suggest U.S. forces bombed a school in Minab, Iran during strikes targeting an IRGC base. Over 150 were killed, Iranian officials say. nytimes.com/2026/03/05/wor…

Key reporting question here is whether Department of War's reliance on AI to select bombing targets was in any way responsible for decision to target a building that was clearly identifiable as a school. Iran reports 175 killed, many of them young girls. washingtonpost.com/technology/202…

The BBC’s decision to cut this section of Akinola Davies Jr’s speech when the #Baftas was broadcast later in the day is shameful. Thank you Akinola Davies Jr for using your platform to speak out for the rights of migrants and people facing and fleeing from persecution and mass atrocities - from the Congo to Sudan to Palestine.

Today, three judges at the Royal Courts of Justice have delivered their ruling that Yvette Cooper’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation was UNLAWFUL. This judicial review was brought on behalf of Palestine Action co-founder @HudaAmmori. After an initial refusal, the Court of Appeal ruled that there were four grounds for judges to consider: -Proscription was an unlawful interference with Articles 10 and 11 (freedom of expression and assembly) of the Convention. -Palestine Action should have been consulted prior to proscription. -The Home Secretary failed to have regard to domestic public law principles. -The Home Secretary did not apply her own principles, including proportionality. More than 2,500 people have been arrested in the past few months for holding signs stating their support for Palestine Action. As well as a large crowd outside the court this morning, there were around 40 people holding similar banners, but police allowed them to remain pending the court’s announcement. At around 10:15, a massive cheer echoed along Fleet Street as we heard that the three Divisional Court judges had ruled that Yvette Cooper’s proscription was unlawful. Moving forward, the government may decide to appeal the decision. If unsuccessful, it could mean that the thousands of arrests may also have been unlawful and that the ban could be lifted very soon. For the moment, activists are celebrating this victory, which follows the jury’s verdict at the Filton trial last week, returning no convictions against any of the young people who had destroyed weapons at the Elbit Systems factory in August 2024. @DefendOurJuries @PulseofPal @Prisoners4Pal @CAGEintl

Thousands of Australians rallied in support of Indigenous rights, on the anniversary of the day the British colonial fleet sailed into Sydney. The date is celebrated by many as Australia Day but is also known as Invasion Day by Indigenous communities and their supporters.

Australia Day celebrates the start of invasion. Massacres. Stolen children. Forced labour. Banned languages. If this is a national birthday,it was paid for with Aboriginal blood. You don’t get unity by erasing genocide. Change the date. Tell the truth. #InvasionDay #AustraliaDay
