i understand wanting other languages for deltarune but japanese translation already takes up so much time in the development cycle it would be so much worse if there were more. it would be nice to get more after the game is out but right now it doesnt really seem very possible

it's ok to admit u were wrong/being unreasonable. I get the frustration but Toby is just one guy and this game is very very personal to him. He's not an evil racist- he just doesn't speak other languages

As an English speaker you wouldn't get it, you guys would be the first to moan about it if a popular game didn't have an English translation.

@fodacy_mano @HUECYCLES Just because he's creating things in his own native language/those he's fluent in and focusing on getting the game out doesn't mean he doesn't care? It means he's focusing where he can work fastest to get his vision out, and unfortunately he just doesn't speak other languages

@wandydoodles Sometimes I think about how many jokes and wordplays would have to be lost for that to happen. Japanese is surprisingly pliable and lends itself well to that kind of humor... Latin languages not so much. That's not even mentioning the lack of neutral pronouns and wording!

Like it's not just a matter of "hire someone to do it for you", starting a localization process for these games requires him actively directing it in every part of the process to maintain the artistic intent. The game is already taking so long to be made the way it's now

He only translates it to Japanese because he *speaks* it ands he can adjust it himself to fit his vision because he understands the language. He doesnt speak Spanish. Literally any fan translation-

As much as I'd like to see UTDR in my language, think the issue with translating these games now is that they are such a personal reflection of Toby as an individual that they have a million things only he knows how to adapt. Id rather see that after the game is actually finished

@the_bonbon @PlazmaBolt The only reason it's translated in Japanese is cause he speaks it. The game is like his child and he wants to ensure it's translated just right. If he spoke Spanish he would probably translate it to Spanish. Literally just download a fan translation.
