In an interview with AFP on Saturday, Khadar Hussein Abdi, Somaliland’s minister of the presidency, said: “We are willing to give exclusive access to our minerals to the United States. Also, we are open to offering military bases to the United States. We believe that we will agree on something with the United States.” He added that “nothing is unlikely” when asked about the possibility of granting a military base to Israel under a potential future agreement. On December 26 last year, Israel recognized Somaliland as an independent state, but #Somalia denounced the move as an attack on its territorial integrity and unity. #Mogadishu said its position is backed by most African and Arab leaders and urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to withdraw the recognition.
