Police were surrounded by a violent mob, warning shots into the air used to disperse the crowd and protect lives. Law enforcement has a duty to protect both lives and public property. It appears to show a single police officer firing four warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd who was stone pelting at police officers, not firing directly at protesters.
