Sushen was running a meal prep business doing everything by hand.
Paying over $2,500 a month in tools to keep it running, none of them talked to each other.
So he built his own system on Emergent instead, and canceled everything else.

I stopped using the likes of Replit / Lovable / Emergent months ago but their numbers still seem to be climbing.
Every time these conditions are true (I no longer use Perplexity, Notion, n8n…), it only means that these tools have found love lower down the technical pyramid.

YC’s Summer 2024 batch has produced 4 unicorns (so far). I remember during the batch, someone *in the batch* directly told PG that YC’s best days were behind it, and that there was “unlikely to be another stripe”.

I was skeptical about emergent but they seem to be a big success with a user group that I don’t have much context and probably not in X. Mistake was comparing them to cursor or lovable , whose user base is entirely different.

I've known both the founders for a while. A year ago, nobody was betting on what they were building. Today they have raised $130M at $1.5B
valuation.
