Shaking, but in a firm voice, I interrupted him and said: “Nah uh, you do not yell at me. I’m not your daughter, and my father doesn’t even yell at me. You don’t get to yell at me.” He called my name twice, menacingly. I repeated what I’d said. He walked away fuming, asked me to send my boss to his office once she got in. I thought, for sure, I’d be fired that day but I was in my twenties, and couldn’t care less. My boss came in. I gave her the message. She came out of his office looking very pleased. She never reprimanded me. Neither did he. Moral of the story: bullies know they’re bullies. Call them out and they’re powerless, even if they’re the boss.
