My neighbor’s cat has dementia, and he keeps forgetting he doesn’t actually live with us. Every morning, without fail, he strolls into our house like he pays the mortgage. He’ll hop on the couch, meow for snacks, and make himself comfortable — then look genuinely offended when we gently remind him, “Buddy… you don’t live here.” Five minutes later? He’s back at the door, ready to “visit” all over again. Honestly, at this point, we’ve stopped correcting him. If his little fuzzy brain says we’re part of his daily route, then who are we to argue? We just consider him our part-time roommate — rent-free, slightly confused, and very loved

A woman had Netflix for 6 years. She opened the app. She scrolled. She picked something after 25 minutes. She fell asleep during episode 2. She repeated this every night. Her friend, a former Netflix UI engineer, sat on her couch one evening and opened Settings on her account. He changed 9 things in under 15 minutes. Her homepage transformed overnight. The autoplay trailers stopped. The "continue watching" list cleaned itself up. The recommendations got sharper. The buffering on her 4K TV disappeared. The categories multiplied from 30 to 2,200. She said "it feels like a completely different app." He said "it is. You've been using the factory settings for 6 years. Netflix ships the version that keeps you scrolling longest, not the version that helps you find something fastest." Here's every setting he changed 🧵

@_BetsBook @Rainmaker1973 I understand that, but comparing it to 23 atomic bombs is a scare tactic. It's intentionally misleading. For example, Google says "To put this into perspective, the daily energy the sun shines onto a 40,000-acre field equals about 50 atomic bombs."

@njolley_SC @Rainmaker1973 Plans are in place to build natural gas power plants on-site to generate energy for the data center. According to environmentalists, these will produce CO2 emissions and create a heat island. One may disagree, but that is the explanation.

A massive new hyperscale data center project called Stratos is planned for Box Elder County, Utah. If built, it would demand up to 9 gigawatts of electricity, more than twice the total power consumption of the entire state. But the real shock comes from the waste heat. According to Utah State University physics professor Robert Davies, the facility would generate an additional 7 to 8 gigawatts of heat, creating a total thermal output of roughly 16 gigawatts concentrated in one location. That energy release, Davies calculated, is comparable to detonating 23 atomic bombs per day in Hansel Valley, a high desert basin near the shrinking Great Salt Lake that naturally traps heat like a bowl. The project’s energy footprint would also be roughly equal to that of 40,000 Walmart Supercenters. Local temperatures could rise by about 5°F (2.8°C) during the day and a staggering 28°F (15.6°C) at night. Ecologists warn that such dramatic warming would stress an already fragile ecosystem, worsen toxic dust from the drying lakebed, and disrupt plants, wildlife, and water resources. As the backbone of artificial intelligence, data centers are essential for every AI query, image, and training run. The Stratos project now raises a critical question: Can the massive infrastructure behind AI expand without permanently transforming, and overheating, the communities and landscapes where it’s built? ["‘So much worse than I even thought’: Utah’s ‘hyperscale’ data center could create massive heat island near Great Salt Lake." The Salt Lake Tribune]

@JFF062024 @tparsi @PrepperCanadian And SC already has scheduled a special primary for August 11 for the November election. This is not a unique circumstance. The 17th provides a way to fill an unexpectedly vacated seat. Otherwise SC would lose half of their senators until January. As an SC resident, I approve.

@njolley_SC @tparsi @PrepperCanadian The last paragraph is key. Let’s pray that it remains temporary. For some reason, it seems it won’t be. Anyhow, thanks for the info but it also looks like the 17th needs an overhaul, as this section seems anti-democratic. Special elections should be held for a vacated seat

There are idiots on this site right now talking about Graham's sister not meeting the rigorous "qualifications" to be a Senator. The only qualifications are 1) to be 30 years old, 2) a U.S. citizen for at least 9 years, and 3) a resident of the state they represent. That's it; and surveying the collection of half-wits, perverts, and sociopathic grifters that now sit in that body, any random citizen would be a significant upgrade from the norm.

@88keystone @cruadin It's a temporary appointment while a new primary is scheduled as per SC law. The equivalent to your comment would be if she was declared to be the nominee for the November ballot without a primary. But per SC law, we will have a snap primary.

Chinas spacecraft has successfully captured the first detailed image of Earths mini moon known as Kamo oalewa. The Tianwen 2 probe has achieved a significant accomplishment in Chinas space exploration efforts by transmitting its initial close up photograph of this rare quasi satellite asteroid. The mission launched in May 2025 covered approximately 620 million miles during a 400 day voyage to reach its target. The spacecraft approached within 12 miles or 20 kilometers of the asteroid. Kamo oalewa a Hawaiian term meaning oscillating celestial object is an irregular rock spanning roughly 66 to 100 feet in diameter. This size positions it as potentially the smallest asteroid targeted by a human spacecraft to date. Although it follows an orbit around the sun closely aligned with Earths path its trajectory maintains a dynamic distance from our planet varying between 9 million and 25 million miles. This encounter initiates an unprecedented scientific endeavor to unravel a longstanding puzzle in astronomy. Analysis of spectral data reveals that the asteroids makeup bears striking similarities to lunar material collected during NASAs Apollo missions. This evidence supports the theory that Kamo oalewa originated as a fragment ejected from the moon during a distant impact event. Over the next several months Tianwen 2 will perform comprehensive surveys of the asteroid. It will then deploy sophisticated robotic tools to collect about 100 grams of surface samples. These materials are expected to return to Earth by late 2027. The mission holds promise for deepening knowledge of the Earth moon relationship and informing strategies for planetary protection against future threats.

Four years ago, I stood in front of a camera and torched a box of Harry’s Razors with a flamethrower because their co-CEO called our conservative values “inexcusable.” Instead of complaining about it, we built Jeremy’s Razors–and it worked: over $55M in revenue and more than a million orders shipped. Over half a million people who stopped paying a company that hates them. When I left the Daily Wire sixteen months ago, I lost the company that bears my name along with it. Today, I bought it back. There is still a ton of work to do to win back the culture. For me, today, getting Jeremy’s Razors back is the next step in that fight. But that’s only the beginning. When you buy from Jeremy’s Razors, you won’t just be purchasing the best shave of your life. You’ll be helping us build the future. And, yes, I got the flamethrower back, too.
Max Tani@maxwelltani

New: The Daily Wire is selling several of its antiwoke consumer brands, including Jeremy’s Razors and Jeremy’s Chocolates, to former CEO Jeremy Boreing. At its peak several years ago, Jeremy’s Razors alone was responsible for 10% of the Daily Wire’s annual revenue.

I’m struggling to have confidence in my new doctor. She sent a message asking someone to contact another hospital to look for my previous mammograms because she thought they were probably done there. The problem? They weren’t. I’ve had 13 mammograms and 2 breast ultrasounds since 2011 at the very same medical system where she practices. Every one of those records is in the same health system, and I can see them myself in the MyChart app on my phone. If I can pull up 15 years of breast imaging on my phone in seconds, why can’t my doctor’s office see it in my chart before deciding they need to track records down somewhere else I have never been? Maybe there’s an explanation I don’t know about, but as a patient, this doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

@neiltheseal__ Reminiscent of the bison in America. When they were placing telegraph lines across the country, the bison would use the poles as scratching posts. The poles kept breaking so they decided to put spikes in the poles. The bison loved the spikes and would line up to get a scratch.

Did you know that Holden Beach is one of the best spots on the NC coast to find fossilized sea biscuits? It’s true! I found 4 today. These sea biscuits lived in the shallows off the North Carolina coast 34-55 million years ago. Why are they suddenly so easy to find at Holden Beach? Beach renourishment dredging in 2022 disturbed offshore fossil-rich sedimentary deposits, loosening thousands of sea biscuits. The dredging created a once-in-a-lifetime shelling experience here in NC, and we’re still reaping the benefits. 🌊
