Hi my name is Naveed. I am SWE student at the University of Calgary, I've started this journey to prove that regardless of your background YOU CAN MAKE IT. You don’t need a top school or a perfect GPA. If I make it — let it inspire you. If I don’t — let it teach you. Because those who chase the impossible never truly fade. In a year's time I want to see my self travel the miles that I never knew I could. To Ideate. To Build. To Dream. To future me, I want you to look back on this on May 16, 2026 and reply.

@osama_latrache @NotionHQ hahaha we've been trying to shed that category for SO long. I guess we needed to do a developer day to finally put it to bed.

From the slums of Mumbai, we made it to NYC, still can’t believe this I remember 4 years ago when I took some risks without a single $, and the only person that had trust in me was my mom She even pawned her jewellery to pay for my exams when no one helped I owe her a lot These 4 months are gonna be fun here

Got in my feels during a 15km race a few weeks ago. I wanted something to remind me of how surreal it feels to do things that once felt impossible. This is an excerpt from my lifelong pursuit of self care 💞 Here we go ✌️

Just wrapped our 5th intern class at @Gemini and it keeps getting better 9.5/10 intern satisfaction 100% said they’d come back 73% shipped real features to production The part that matters most is the culture behind it. Interns are treated like full engineers from day one and every team actually buys into that Each cycle improves on the last. Can't wait to do it all over again in 3 weeks Fall 2026 SWE intern applications are open, link below🚀

I’m going to give away every piece of swag I got at the OpenAI event tonight. Of course very appreciative to get it 🙏 But, never been a swag guy, and know so many people love this stuff, so would like to see it go to a good home. Will share more tomorrow or Thursday, but if you want some swag from the event, comment below and I’ll add you to the random drawing. And I’ll ship it to you for free. Let’s let the GPT 5.5 love go around 🫶

Day 2: Sidecars can be used to create modular utility containers that standardize the implementation functionality. Now what does this actually mean? It basically means sidecars can be used for generalized services that all other services would need. For example we have: User Service Payment Service Order Service Notification Service With a sidecar container, each service can run the same reusable logging adapter beside it. Instead of every service implementing its own custom logging logic, the sidecar standardizes how logs are collected, formatted, and forwarded across all services. To me it seems like a basic primitive of distributed systems, it's a pattern you use when wanting to create a reusable basic service that is needed for all other services.

@TheRohanVarma is codex good for UI? I heard it's quite mid and opus is better

The old meta for rapid UI development was: > ask coding agents to build something > iterate on the IA or design > wait for it to keep rebuilding the app for each rev The new meta: > use Imagegen 2.0 in Codex to generate UI mocks > iterate very quickly with Imagegen on concepts > pick one and ask Codex to build it, one shot It feels like a way better workflow and is probably way more token efficient - try it out if you haven't!

The best internships are the ones where you ship 🚀

The sidecar pattern is basically a distributed systems pattern that can extend an applications capabilities. It always runs beside the app in the same area such as pod, VM or host. For e.g using the sidecar pattern we can add HTTPS to a previously HTTP service/application. We do so by creating a reverse proxy that serves requests via HTTPS, handles TLS termination and then forward it to the original application over an internal connection i.e localhost. It is kind of like giving the application a specialized assistant. The main app keeps focusing on its core logic, while the sidecar handles supporting concerns like HTTPS, logging, metrics, retries, authentication, or service discovery. Sidecars can be used in many different ways, such as the example we gave above but it can also be used in modular application containers, which I’ll discuss in another post.
