In 2019, after years of fighting like hell to protect repro rights, we won - and RI codified abortion protections into law. Abortion is legal in RI. That only stays legal with a pro-choice governor and a pro-choice legislature. But we have so much more to do. 🧵

Clarence Thomas writes, in a concurring opinion, that the Supreme Court should reconsider Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell — the rulings that now protect contraception, same-sex relationships, and same-sex marriage.

In 2018 the people of Ireland spoke loud and clear. Repealing one of the strictest abortion bans in the world. Giving Irish women their rights. We looked to America as an example of freedom. With Roe v Wade overturned, the world continues to watch America become unrecognisable.

Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.

This is an incredible loss for fundamental womens rights. I mourn for my daughters and for all women - we live in a society that doesn’t believe us, doesn’t trust us. We should have control over our own bodies - it’s that simple.
