One of the reasons AI is going to sweep through the information economy is that a large number of people employed in those sectors - especially in journalism - add no human value. The reasons given in this article are nominally in reverse order but are in reality interchangeable: 8) The movies aren't one-to-one adaptations of a 1200 page trilogy that takes about 60 hours to read. 7) Return of the King used more CGI than Fellowship and looks dated. 6) Not Enough Women. 5) Cultural stereotypes (Tolkien had a "borderline-colonial gaze" that wasn't corrected until Rings of Power). 4) Streaming services usually play the theatrical cuts.
