@minordissent Is it always? No killing, no stealing no lying etc. Talked about this with my wife yesterday: is it more virtuous to be completely honest, never steal, etc. or allow exceptions. How about killing? What is virtue if so?

This is actually deeply true. The path of good is always obscure while the path of evil is always clear. If you demand clear instruction before you will act, you will become the play thing of demons.

Everyone who "has it" can identify someone else that "has it" right away. People who don't have it don't even think it exists, which ensures they'll never get it. What is "it"?

@TellYourSonThis That is why if you're smart you're a nihilst. But if you're really smart you stop thinking and start trusting just before you reach the 'logical' conclusion.

@stackhodler I think if a fat trust fund ruins a child's life the parents didn't do a good job raising the kid.

A lot of Bitcoiners will end up with significant wealth to pass down to their children. But a fat trust fund can ruin a child's life. It can destroy their motivation to accomplish anything and lead to drugs and despair. So how can you give your children a quality life AND the satisfaction of making their own way in the world? Here's what I'm planning for now: 1. Pay for their education. Don't saddle them with debt right out of the gate. This is a huge advantage. 2. Teach them the principles of entrepreneurship and investing. Give them valuable knowledge they won't learn in school. And here's the big one related to inheritance: Instead of just handing them a trust fund when they turn 18... Given them an incentive. Tell them that you will match their net worth at a time of their choosing between 30 and 50 years old. Here's the logic: If they work hard in their 20's and build a fortune by 30, they will have proven that they are capable of managing a large inheritance. And the inheritance at age 30 will then buy them time to focus on family and/or allow them to pursue even bigger ambitions. Or if they choose, they can take a more traditional path and choose the inheritance at a later age which should still give them plenty of their time back in their later years. And if they don't make any money by age 50? That's OK, but they probably would have blown the inheritance anyway. So instead the same deal will be offered to their children. Each successive generation will have the same offer to match their net worth between age 30-50. In this way, capital will continue to flow to the best allocators of future generations. This plan is made possible with a multi-generational trust stored in an asset with a predictable supply over the next 100+ years. #Bitcoin
