@supermarkus Ouch. 734 took a hit. Convenient that I’m in that weird in-between space where 419, 567, and 734 all mesh.

Really dislike that Canon is publishing a book trying to get their fingerprints all over Renn’s thesis for three worlds. If it benefits him, fine I guess. But why haven’t they published Wiley’s book yet? Why so grabby?

Always envied my brother, David, for writing his sermons out with pen and ink. This ChronicleHigherEd headline clarified why. "I Made My Students Write by Hand. It Gave Them Their Brains Back." Then the first line: "We need to slow down the process of thinking." True, although I typed this on a keyboard.

I worshiped at a Presbyterian Church on a hill this morning in Nashville. And I walked the streets of New Orleans tonight. It hits me that there is a sort of case study in respective political theologies worth thinking about in these two houses of worship and their cities.

More of a lament than a complaint, but @worldmarket just wanted to share that for years, part of our St. Patrick’s Day tradition has been going to shop for some items from Ireland to liven up our own bread pudding and Irish stew fare. But every year, the amount of Irish products available has decreased and decreased till this year, there’s literally nothing left but chips and tea. Even the sad little Irish display they still had was mostly green items from other countries, like green pasta from Italy and green pockys from Japan (the level of Japanese products available is insane, I’m assuming is a reflection of anime culture). But if I could just plead with you, this has been a part of our tradition for so many years and seeing the depressed looks on my girls’ faces as we looked at what World Market had available this year made me so sad. Please reconsider. At least in March.

@PLeithart @PLeithart There is another way to look at it though. I don't think it is a withering of the imagination to envision a time when Rome abandons her errors, making unity in the truth possible. I don't want an "as is" unity, but I do want unity . . .

Protestant nationalists can envision, in great detail, a world where Protestants make all the calls. They cannot envision a world where Protestants and Catholics and Orthodox are reunited in one body. An odd combination of robust political and shrunken ecclesial imagination.
