"Southern Europeans dominated ancient history" is a fairly recent view amongst RC/EO given that up until Greek Independence, the Byzantine Greeks condemned their ancient inheritance as heresy and instead promoted Orthodox theology/philosophy as their sole gift to the world.

@williameijer Disagree. I would say this is a christian ethos. Mothers are absolutely capable of discerning a child crying dishonestly (historically) - perhaps more so than the historically uninvolved fathers. It is a christian desire to assume honesty in the tears of the „powerless.“
