@SangitaMyska He’s proved to be a useful idiot for a lot of powerful people. No doubt he’s been allowed to prosper so many times, as someone useful at some later date, to take the fall, and distract us all, again.

I feel so angry and frustrated. If you do too, read on.. The Peter Mandelson/ Epstein Files scandal is of such magnitude that its full implications won’t be known for some time. However, what’s evident is that Mandelson story is not just one of deep personal failing, it also demonstrates an absence of the political checks and balances we, the voters, have a right to expect from a half decent political ‘system’ that should exist - not to be exploited for personal gain - but to better our country as a whole. How on earth did a man like Mandelson so craven and open about his desire to be at the centre of power, who cast himself as ‘Mr Fix It’, who was sacked and disgraced for breaching the Ministerial code, who seemingly lied to his bosses, manage to climb the greasy pole only to slip down and make it back up, over and over again? What were his friends, sponsors and political colleagues thinking when they encouraged this unsuitable character for high office; surely the knew the sum of the man? The sheepish ‘he’s still my friend and he’s just done something stupid’ excuse doesn’t cut it anymore. Mandelson’s sharing of market sensitive information is obviously unethical and probably illegal. But, to do what he did in the midst of a financial crisis when ordinary British citizens were suffering feels like a particularly nasty variety of betrayal. It speaks directly to his narcissism and frankly to all those around him who think our lives are just the chorus to their starring roles on the world stage. Then there are, most importantly, Epstein’s victims for whom justice still seems a very long way away. How they must feel seeing yet another powerful man shirk all responsibility for his odious friendship with a convicted pedophile is unimaginable. The police must investigate and Mandelson must be stripped of his peerage. And, once that is done, can we please find a way to expunge our upper chamber of all the other ex-convicts and grifters who still inhabit its benches. They are law breakers and not law makers. I, for one, am done with them. (Thanks for reading this far)
