My follow list does not imply endorsement of anyone. I’m trying to follow the people who have solid information. I am aware of their biases.

@brianeskow More and more I’m realizing how ludicrous it is to ask such a huge question … on Twitter. This is just not the right format for deep, serious discussion.

In the case of my own child, he also has dysphoria about certain aspects of having a penis, yet I am fairly certain I therapist has talked with him about similar (and even more gross) aspects of having a vagina.

All these discussions of Elliot Page’s page-plaining masculinity reminded me of one of the biggest problems I have with rushing young people into transition as the supposed way to cure gender dysphoria …
Culture War Conscientious Objector@noculturewar

@noseyrosieposy @elegationvain One of my biggest problems with assuming transition is the treatment of choice for anyone who has gender dysphoria is that someone who feels burdened by all the gender expectations for their birth sex are likely to have problems with all the expectations for the other sex, too.

If you are a person who is unhappy with the societal expectations for your birth sex, it seems likely you are also going to be unhappy with societal expectations for your transition sex.

A lot of women (naturally incl. transmen) think men are constantly repressing their emotions to be “manly”, & only allowing themselves to feel emotions such as anger or lust. But most men simply aren’t experiencing emotions that require repression (except for anger & lust).
Oli London@OliLondonTV

Trans actress Elliot Page explains how she feels ‘healthy masculinity.’ “Healthy masculinity to me is…like leaning away from whenever there is some sort of impulse or expectation you’ve put on yourself to like shut down.”

@elegationvain I think this comes from being socialised as a female, whereby if you don't display "feminine" behaviours, you just won't fit in or have many, if any, friends. It's toxic. I've always thought that men are "allowed" to maintain a more natural demeanor, but could be wrong.

@LauraBeckerReal I’ve noticed a lot of settings where a woman would feel shame, it doesn’t occur to men. That is, the social awareness that would cause one to feel shame is simply absent for them. Fear though is interesting. What’s the difference between courage and repressing fear?

@elegationvain @cervixen We do often repress emotions in unhealthy ways, but at the same time not in a way that women and others grok. One of the best things about men and masculinity is a certain base level of suppression of emotion about unimportant things and when in high-stakes situations.

These are unserious narcissists with far too much time on their hands. Unfortunately for Page, the testosterone has done barely anything for her in comparison to other females who take this route.

@JackxJewell I watched the entire half hour interview. I’m surprised I haven’t seen much about another part where she goes on for quite a while about how humans should act more like bonobos, and f—- each other indiscriminately and frequently.

The trans dilemma: If "being trans" has do with the human sexed body, trans is proven false because "trans women" do not have the human sexed bodies of women, but of men. If "being trans" has to nothing to do with the human sexed body, then trans is false because "trans women are women" is a meaningless assertion because "women" no longer points to anything real or meaningful. It because a null pointer.
