Telling inspiring stories about Igbo land & it’s People. Celebrating Igbo Creativity! A subsidiary of @eastsideventurs

Visit our Stand at the LAGOS CINEMA FILM CONVENTION. So, The cat is out of the bag finally 😁. I hid this from the World for the past 8 months, and my team and I have been diligently working on it. The cast of this Movie will blow your mind. Directed by Award-winning director Izu Ojukwu. BEYOND THE LANDING captures the story of the Aftermath of the Igbo Landing, which took place in Savanah, Georgia, in 1803. The events of Igbo Landing in 1803, when 75 enslaved Igbo people chose death over slavery by drowning in the coastal waters of Georgia, have symbolic significance in African American folklore: The Igbo people's actions represent a powerful story of resistance against enslavement. By choosing suicide, the captives exercised autonomy over their bodies and lives, which was antithetical to slavery. Some locals even called the mutiny and suicide the first freedom march in US history. This movie is shooting in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and the USA 🇺🇸 this OCTOBER. THE IGBO LANDING MOVIE PROJECT BY @voiceoftheeast Our production team from @nollyigbo, our movie production subsidiary, visited the physical site where the IGBO LANDING happened in 1803 at St. Simons Island, Georgia, in the United States of America! The team led by our Chairman of EASTSIDE VENTURES, Mr Gaius Chibueze, had a first-hand tour of the location, which holds so much historical value to Ndi Igbo worldwide. The place, now private property, still has some of the historical materials from the 1800s, and many of these will be featured In a movie our company is working on. For those who may not know about the IGBO LANDING story, it is an actual life event in 1803 at St. Simons Island, Georgia, United States of America. A group of 75 Igbo people were taken from Igboland from what is now Nigeria and taken to the United States in a 3-month Voyage. They committed mass suicide by drowning rather than begin life in America as enslaved people. This Igbo language Film which our company @nollyigbo is currently working on starring some Nollywood Icons, will be shot in Nigeria and the USA. The Movie is expected to Premier in 2024. Production Consultants of the project, Mr @mrbrownene and Steve Eboh, in a video, shared how they feel about the project. Lastly, we also got some word & participation commitment from the property owner Mr Tommy, who said he has owned this property since the 1960s and he is is also excited to be part of the Project! We are excited and can't wait to share this beautiful piece of historical art with you! #igbolanding #Igbokwenu #ndiigbo

ATTENTION NOLLYWOOD ACTORS, DIRECTORS & SCRIPT WRITERS! One of the first misconceptions urgently need to change with storytelling in movies about Ndi Igbo is the misconception that “Obi has to leave Ala Igbo to Lagos to make it.” Igbo scriptwriters and storytellers have for a long time, contributed to some of these negative stereotypes about Ndi Igbo. In the Yoruba Movie on Netflix “Ijakumo,” shot and directed by a Yoruba Director, an Igbo character was introduced only in 1 scene wearing the Prestigious Isi Agu costume. Here is what he was asked to say: “I harvest and sell human parts, There's a big market for it and I, Chief Ifeanyi, I am one of the biggest suppliers.” While this may be considered a harmless drama but we have noticed with dismay repeatedly, how Yoruba directors and sadly, Igbo script writers often portray Igbo characters as “cunning, 419, shaddy, con artists etc, in thier movies. This has to stop moving forward. We are also calling on Igbo actors to be smart and stop accepting roles that demean and stereotype Igbo people negatively. @nollyigbo ✍️✍️✍️✍️

WHY WE ARE INVESTING IN IGBO MOVIES THROUGH @nollyigbo We @eastsideventurs are happy to unveil a new member of our Family @nollyigbo Growing up in Enugu I witnessed first-hand how 90% of what we all knew as Nollywood Movies were created. I was there in Amechi Live when Aki & Paw Paw was shot. It was in my father's house that Pipiro was shot ft same Aki And Pawpaw. 3 of my father’s Maternal uncles from Akpugo owned 3 movie production companies! Anayo films-A-Z Movies etc were all my uncles. So I witnessed first-hand how Ndi-Igbo birthed what is known today as Nollywood. Unfortunately, when Nollywood started Migrating and Innovating to Netflix standard our People Didn't migrate with it and today our people have lost their hold on what is today's Nollywood. When I go to Netflix today I can't even watch a documentary about Ndi Igbo. No one is telling the real Igbo stories. Thanks to our Daughter Genevieve Nnaji the first Nigerian to put a Nigerian Movie on Netflix and today Many Nigeria Movies can be on Netflix. For long I had wanted to be a shareholder in Nollywood and tell Igbo stories but I felt the time was not right so I went in pursuit of Wealth! I tried my hands-on writing and directing my first movie in 2016 👇 Watch it below. youtu.be/g-3uKaLazxM I believe More Igbo Investors need to Invest in the Igbo stories and so I and my team have decided to create @nollyigbo Many of the movies about Igbo people have been all about Negative stereotypes and I believe that must stop. I am creating @nollyigbo a production and streaming platform to tell only beautiful and inspiring Igbo stories that promote the Igbo Genius. I am inviting others who have great stories about Igboland to come take advantage of this platform. We will fund movies and also buy & lease Netflix standard Movie production equipment to Igbo Movie makers. We will uphold a Standard. We are inviting all stakeholders telling Igbo stories to come use our platform and resources. Our @VoiceOfTheEast media office will be open in Enugu State on the 10th of July and you can walk in for business discussion and partnership! Gaius Chibueze for EASTSIDE VENTURES LLC.
