Google suggests you expose API keys client side for things like Google Maps. Google changed the permission boundaries for this overnight to push AI aggressively, so that the API keys can access Gemini as long as Gemini is enabled for the associated GCP project.

@rileytestut The app sandbox exists no matter where the app came from. So the security is all the same. The flexibility on the other hand is worse if you had to be near a PC with other tools installed there too and what not to be able to install your apps

But while I personally believe limited sideloading is the right balance between flexibility & security, it doesn’t matter what I think
Apple is clearly going to comply with this law. The only question is HOW they’ll comply…and I doubt Apple will do more than the bare minimum
