@VadimCarazan I shared that particular example because it had the name embedded in it. Apple had come a long way to reduce to that icon. So did Nike. I believe a logo need to show the business in the beginning at least.

i get the point, but i think this example actually proves the opposite.
the old apple logo didn’t clearly explain what the company did. it was more of a metaphor around knowledge, discovery, newton, etc.
and that’s why they eventually moved away from it. a logo shouldn’t try to explain the whole business. its main job is to create recognition and differentiation.
if newton was holding a laptop, then yes, it would be more literal. but probably also worse.
