🚨 Riquelme saying the Argentina x Spain final was a repeat of 1990 final 🎙️"Look, people get surprised by what happened last night against Spain, but those of us who have been in football for a long time know how this business works. This was a repeat of 1990. Back then, before the final against Germany, Julio Grondona went straight to Diego and told him clearly: 'It’s better if we lose today.' But Diego was Diego. He had that stubborn Argentine pride. He told them no, he fought, he pushed, and he tried to go against the entire system. But what happened? The referee wouldn't leave him alone, the whistle favored one side, and they made sure Germany took the cup anyway. So when I watched the boys play against Spain last night, looking heavy, looking like they already knew the result before the match even started... I wasn't surprised at all. When the political powers and the money decide who has to win, a footballer can only do so much. Diego tried to fight it in 1990 and paid the price. Yesterday, history just repeated itself."

Exposing Argentina, almost same exact foul, Egypt scores against Argentina,VAR intervened after Argentina players pressured the referee, he ruled the goal out for a foul,Messi does the same exact foul, Argentina scores against England,no VAR intervention.

@nomiileee @BronSznz @BronGotGame I don't think it was a tactic, generally argentinas defense was terrible, and again they were really sloppy with the ball all season, and they were in dogfights with teams they shouldn't have with in the first place. Spain was solid all tournament.

@NoeJaimes9 @BronSznz @BronGotGame lol it’s a normal game tactics for Argentina because they allow opponents score first just to reveal weakness if you watch their matches so good

@nomiileee @BronSznz @BronGotGame All the teams they played up to England were terrible. Argentina even had to cheat to win those games. England could have won if the dumb coach didn't park the bus. You watched the games, Argentina was really sloppy. Sooner or later a good time would beat them.

@TopMGSzn You lost me at "Argentina had 0 shots on target in 90 minutes, yet Lautaro, one of their biggest attacking weapons, never came on." This is the low ball knowledge take and tells me that you're a casual only looking for engagement

This doesn't even sound like a conspiracy anymore. Something clearly happened behind the scenes before the World Cup Final. Too many things don't add up. • Scaloni arrived at the stadium and got off the team bus in tears. • Messi "missed" every shot in the warm-up. In over 20 years, I genuinely can't remember ever seeing that. Was he doing it deliberately, or was his mind somewhere else? • Messi's family didn't even come to the stadium despite living in Miami. • The entire squad walked out of the dressing room with their heads down, completely shaken up. Enzo and Licha were both seen crying. • Messi was heard saying: "Let's forget about everything. Let's just play. Forget about everything." Everyone around him looked devastated. • Scaloni completely abandoned the tactical approach that had worked throughout the tournament, leaving the midfield exposed against a team whose biggest strength is midfield control. Messi and Julián were isolated all game. • Argentina had 0 shots on target in 90 minutes, yet Lautaro, one of their biggest attacking weapons, never came on. • Both Cuti Romero and Lisandro Martínez asked to be substituted because of "injuries", yet neither looked to be in obvious pain. These are arguably the two toughest players in the squad. Interestingly, both also ignored Trump during the trophy presentation. • Spain committed over 20 fouls without receiving a single card. Oyarzabal's challenge on Messi's knee and Cucurella's foul on Simeone were both obvious booking opportunities. • Cucurella also somehow escaped a red after covering his mouth during a confrontation with Messi. • Even Spain's celebrations felt strangely subdued. From a neutral perspective, that's understandable given Argentina never really put on a fight. This isn't meant to take anything away from Spain. They were World Cup favourites for a reason and fully deserved the title based on what happened on the pitch. But I've watched this Argentina team since 2021, and I've never seen anything remotely like Sunday. This team's identity has always been its passion, intensity and willingness to fight for every ball. None of that was there. I'm not claiming to know what happened. Maybe it was connected to the Malvinas incident. Maybe there was pressure from someone powerful. Maybe it involved their families. Maybe it was something else entirely. But I refuse to believe that what we watched was simply Argentina having an off day. Too many signs pointed to a squad that looked emotionally broken before the match had even kicked off. I just hope that one day we find out what really happened behind the scenes.

@nomiileee @BronSznz @BronGotGame I think that worked for the bad teams they were playing, but eventually it didn't work when they actually played a decent time. They were really sloppy and bad the whole tournament honestly, was going to cost them eventually.
