Dua juara dunia F1, Lando Norris dan Max Verstappen menyoroti masalah energy deployment yang diterapkan di GP Jepang yang menurut mereka menjadi masalah yang serius.
Masalah utama adalah efek yo-yo yang disebabkan oleh sistem baterai (ERS). Norris menjelaskan bahwa pembalap tidak memiliki kontrol penuh terhadap kapan energi dikeluarkan. Akibatnya, setelah menyalip Lewis Hamilton, baterainya justru habis dan ia langsung disalip kembali di straight berikutnya. Situasi ini membuat aksi overtaking terasa tidak alami dan lebih seperti pertukaran posisi berulang, bukan duel murni.
Ia juga menyoroti bahwa dalam kondisi tertentu, terutama saat berada dalam jarak satu detik dan menggunakan mode overtak, sistem baterai bisa aktif di momen yang tidak diinginkan, bahkan harus re-deploy setelah pembalap mengangkat pedal. Hal ini membuat pembalap seperti tidak berdaya karena performa mobil lebih ditentukan oleh sistem daripada skill mereka. (1/2)
