All these things can be true: -Bryson should have gotten the penalty -R & A not wrong -Wyhdam got lucky and should have been penalized -PGA got it wrong -Barstool golf is the worst and no one should listen to their takes -any other player would have gotten benefit of the doubt -Brandel has only 1 more win on tour than I do - Bryson’s response is understandable -if this was Scottie golf media would be losing their minds on the R & A

Seriously? @GolfChannel ? Why should a player "graciously" accept a penalty that they honestly feel that they didn't deserve? If someone shows me a DEFINITIVE camera angle that showed his swing path was improved then there should be a penalty. But for a commentator to state that he definitely did improve his situation is , in my opinion, more about their personal opinion of Bryson than the facts. There is no down the line video that I have seen.

The american replies to this post are wild 😂 The same people who have said for 4 years that the PGAT and US are the be all and end all in world pro golf are now saying that US style course set ups (read soft dart board greens) aren’t a massive influence overseas 😂 The Open greens have been made softer and more benign for some years now - it was first very noticeable when Morikawa won at RSG

Some big media names going after Bryson about lack of media comments- I took a stroll down memory lane and these same big media names don’t give this treatment to Rory or Scottie who both have done same- with way worse attitudes towards golf media. This is the problem with golf’s unique media/PGA links. But also bigger than just golf media. Should Bryson speak to media? Yes but he should be held to same standard as the others.

Played West Lancashire GC, which hosted a Final Qualifier for the Open and British Amateur recently. Delightful walk, brown & bouncy too. Sergio blamed the lasagna for his play, I’m going with my rental set though I did have the Mac & Cheese at the media center so could be that🤪

10 Final Open Thoughts/Predictions 1. I think the course will be a LOT more driver heavy than we expected. Bomb & gouge lite so to speak. The fescue is fraudulent. 2. Chris Gotterup will win multiple Open Championships in his career. His game and more importantly his mind is perfect for links golf. I think he wins this week but stand by this point even if he doesn’t. 3. Eight guys will finish double digits under par. You need -13 for a playoff, -14 will win it. 4. 4 guys 100-1 or higher will finish in the top 10 this week. Could even win it. 5. This will be the last major where Fleetwood’s closing price will be under 30-1. 6. Aberg needs a good finish or the “Is he a fraud” chatter will become a roar in 2027. 7. The Big 2 of Rory & Scottie becomes the Big 3 if Fitzy, Cam Young, or Wyndham win. Gotterup is close too. 8. Career-wise nobody deserves a win this week more than Justin Rose. He is a two major guy. I really hope it happens, both for him and for me $$$. 9. The guy whom I didn’t bet whom I fear the most is actually Morikawa. As long as the weather holds up, this course is perfect for him. 10. The most joyous celebration this week on the 72nd hole will in fact happen thousands of miles away from Birkdale, when Tosti wins a Punta Cana.
