Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a rainfall warning. A multi-day atmospheric river is expected to bring 80 to 130 mm of rain to the North Shore by Friday. The BC River Forecast Centre has upgraded the North Shore Mountains and Metro Vancouver tributaries to a Flood Watch. This means river levels are rising and will approach or may exceed riverbanks. Heavy rain and rising river levels increase the risk of unstable riverbanks, erosion, submerged roads, swift water hazards, flooding, and landslides. Stay safe: 📌 Stay clear of the banks of fast-moving rivers 📌 Expect challenging driving conditions, including pooling water and possible washouts 📌 Never drive through flooded roads, bridges, or crossings 📌 Clear leaves and debris from storm drains to help reduce flooding In addition, Avalanche Canada advises backcountry users to avoid avalanche terrain this week. ℹ️Trusted sources for updates: • EmergencyInfoBC.ca (provincial public safety updates) • DriveBC.ca (road and highway conditions) • Canada.ca/weather (weather information and alerts) • River Forecast Centre: bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/warnings/ • Avalanche conditions: avalanche.ca/map
