Amazing. Chuck Todd says Trump deploying Guard without Newsom’s approval is first time it's happened "since segregation," when feds had to force states to desegregate. He then adds: "That’s not exactly the type of history I think anybody wants to see us repeating." Wait — which part of that history don’t you want repeated, Chuck? Enforcing civil rights? Or the federal government stepping in when state leaders refused? Of course, what Todd’s actually doing is casually and reflexively trying to tie Trump to the villainous Southern governors — when the analogous role is obviously Newsom here. And that's just *one* of the dumb things in the podcast.

@obxpilot23 @KirkHerbstreit That was my first thought, too. If you fined an athletic department a quarter mil, half mil or heck—1 mil, you won’t see too many of these flag plantings going forward.

If no rules have been broken, then I don’t see how your can penalize someone. Plus you see fights on the field during games all the time, and not much happens. Going forward, conferences could start assessing large $$$ fines to schools if they don’t like what transpired this weekend such as they’ve done with fans rushing the field.

I think any conference commissioner who had a team or teams involved in the postgame fights owes it to his conference and THE SPORT of CFB to study the film very closely and sit anyone who was involved in being an aggressor to help escalate the situation. Sit those involved for their next game. Whether it’s a bowl game or playoff game. These dudes need consequences-for their own good!
