@oaklandpeter1 I think you switched up CHN and CSCS! CHN is only unique number across all brokerage like BVN, while CSCS changes from brokerage to brokerage like your account number.

When you open a brokerage account with platforms like Bamboo, Yoocha, or Cardinal Stone, you are issued two important numbers: CHN (Clearing House Number) :This is a unique identifier assigned to you by each brokerage firm you sign up with, similar to how different banks give you separate account numbers. CSCS Number : This is a single, universal number tied to your identity across the entire Nigerian capital market, much like how your BVN works across all banks. With these two numbers, you can begin trading stocks on the secondary market, or apply for public offerings such as an IPO (Initial Public Offering), PO (Public Offer), or Rights Issue including future offerings like a potential Dangote Refinery IPO. What is a CSCS Account? CSCS (Central Securities Clearing System) Plc. is Nigeria's financial market infrastructure responsible for the depository, clearing, settlement, and delivery of all securities transactions in the Nigerian capital market. Think of it as a central repository that holds all the stocks you own across different brokers similar to having one app that shows your balances across GTBank, Access Bank, and Zenith Bank all at once. When you buy a stock, it settles in your CSCS account after two working days ( T +2), going forward by May 29 we will be moving to T+1. This protects you from dubious brokers, since you can independently track your full portfolio in one place. Note that you need to open an account with a stockbrokerage firm before you can open a CSCS account. The annual subscription fee is approximately 5,700 per year to maintain online access to your portfolio. How Public Offers and Allotment Work When you apply for a public offer such as an IPO, Public Offer, or Rights Issue, after the allotment process is completed, the allocated shares will first appear in your CSCS account. You will then need to contact your stockbroker to dematerialise the shares ,this is the process of converting them into a tradeable digital form within your brokerage account. Once that is done, the shares become fully accessible for trading on the secondary market. This is how the entire structure works from application to trading. If you don’t have a Cscs account yet and you subscribed for TIP Right issue and Public offers, but you recently noticed people are getting their allotment, just revert to your stock broker to dematerialise for you but again some brokers might go ahead and do it without you asking.
