Impossible really. I took the position of not chasing tools, just build mine own and accept the tools I chose to start so that I don’t get distracted. My cursor choice has certainly cost me more money than it should have, and their support makes Comcast look inviting, but I think it’s given me some of the most consistency and up time, being able to switch models helped me side step a few issues that would have led to major downtime or tool migrations
I am quite over cursor though, and it seems like most of its advantages have been caught up to, though it’s hard to say still. I can’t tell if the problems I hear of people having are entirely mitigated by user or in part by harness, because I can’t look under the hood of cursor I’m blind to some of my outcomes being me or the tool
I’m frankly shocked at how manual the scams on telegram are still, every time I reply with one of these, I get an actual human and you know it’s a human because they’re confused by what I asked not dismissive or coy
Define model here. Is this the model without the harness or with?
I would say they’ve spent so much time trying to perfect and control the model behavior that they’re definitely less aligned. But I would also say the harnesses have overcome their meddling to help models become more aligned.
I would define alignment as doing what I want, not what it’s been corralled to think I want to do and because of that I would say that even though the harnesses gives me more control, I’m recovering some of that control from bizarre upstream choices I can’t see and that I actually have less alignment than previously even though I can get more done now.
This is all at the exclusion of open source
@NumanThabit A system that produces is software. It’s decidedly not a factory because it has recursive feedback loops that allow the system make it down forward progress. The bet is that it can produce genware from genware instead of just software
Data theft is only going one direction. Your protection is not the lack of theft in this phase, your protection is two fold:
- everyone else is in the same boat
- you capture your data
This is not a permanent phase, it’s a brief volatile phase. Heads down, keep building
@nos_ult That’s side chat sounding features sounds pretty clutch
How do they handle it that makes it feel so clean? I use cursor so it’s just doing what I need via terminal, I don’t necessarily interact with more than the macOS file system though
@notdevin I think the way they handle computer use on Mac is amazing. Also, being able to make a side chat to ask about an ongoing thread is incredibly useful.
I hate looking at my phone, just call me.
But seriously, you don’t get spam texts? I reply to everyone who I’m in correspondence with, what I won’t do is put any energy towards the inbound detritus. For me I’m already checking my phone more than I want to be, so I’d rather just run on silent with no obnoxious badges intended to motivate me to do a thing I’m already going to do
My biggest problem is that I’ve got 8 builds in parallel and they’re all fighting for build contention now. I’ve squeezed all performance possible out of the architecture and the processes, now I just need more machine
There sorta has to be a catastrophic failure in ai and given the way anthropic likes to look down the barrel of a gun and play with the trigger, I think it’s going to be them
@NumanThabit You’re not wrong, it can be time-wise though so there in lies the trade off. This case was absurd though, grok and glm were a couple bucks for the same work in less total elapsed time
