never use an ultrasonic humidifier unless you're pouring, like, ultrapure water into it. I know this from experience. do not believe the positive reviews

@hoffridder it's sometimes been good to have 2 gigabits instead of 1 but not too often

people use LLMs to look for security bugs; they also use agents to write code for them. the agents talk to OpenAI or Anthropic, which tell the agent what commands to run on your computer so that they can collect data and continue work. by these means, you become the security bug.

Do source code leaks matter? GitHub is a Ruby on Rails app, I don’t think anyone’s interested in buying that

@threepointone We're edging towards this on a couple of projects, and arguably the "Durable Streams" repo is already there.

@ConceptualJames 1/ My 13yo's "health" teacher told kids to anonymously write their biggest struggles on a paper, crumple it up, and throw it in a trash can. So far, so good. She then pulled them out and read them aloud, incl stories of attempted suicide, familial rape/incest, and other abuse.

okay, I’m seeing many claims that AI writing can’t be reliably detected - is this actually true or is it cope? I tested Pangram when I first heard of it. It works. (I’ve heard it sometimes messes up percentages in mixed cases, eg if a piece is 10% AI, Pangram might get it wrong)

I feel a cold fury whenever I open a pdf of some paper to read and Adobe is like "Hm, this looks long. Would you like me to just summarize it for you?" No, fuck you, Adobe. The paper is long because it contains a lot of details that matter. Why wouldn't I want to read them?

was trying to think of a YouTube person who doesn't talk or present things in an annoying way but rather speaks neutrally. @tom7" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@tom7 came to mind first, I'm sure being a polymath is a total coincidence
