imo, elon's extreme "free speech" policy makes this place ripe for this. the statd goal of turning twitter into a digital town square was never possible because social media is an inherently superficial medium, akin to skywriting. thus, serious discourse is not possible here.

that’s the question isn’t it. what WILL she do? there are no youth clubs for her to attend. food, cinema tickets, any sort of third space activity is all too expensive. their parents are underpaid, saturday jobs don’t exist any more, children have truly been abandoned by the govt

@SketchesbyBoze This is so sad. I love reading. True, when I was a teen and had to read for school, I hated it, but as soon as I didn't have to read anymore, I started reading again. Luckily one of my kids also loves to read. The other not, though...

Been feeling bleak for the past week after I read an essay saying the market for middle-grade books has collapsed because kids can no longer read them. Two long-time publishers of middle-grades have shuttered, with more to come. We don’t appreciate what a crisis this is. +
