My biggest issue with this is that Steve/C Evans could literally say “I’m not Captain America” until he’s blue in the face but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Steve coming back opens a space for racist people who would never accept Sam as Cap to shit on Sam and say awful things. We had to deal with 3 years of people saying Bucky would’ve been a better fit for Cap before TFATWS came out. Then on top of that, someone John Walker came out of that show with fans saying he would make a better Cap. There will always be people who will never accept a black Captain America but bringing Steve back just makes them worse and lets them be louder. It doesn’t matter what Steve says or what Evans says.
