@elonmusk I will make that for you. I run a business that makes Delftware tiles with AI. But we want the next step.— below entirely made with AI, a real tile.

✨Make your own Art Nouveau wallpaper with AI!✨ We launched Not Quite Past in May 2024 with beautiful customised Delft tiles fired in Stoke-on-Trent. Now, we’re going bigger. We’re moving into wallpaper — expanding from object to atmosphere, from ceramic squares to seamless patterns that shape an entire room. With our new AI pattern tools and luxurious paper made in Lancashire, you can now create your own wallpaper designs. Our first available style: Art Nouveau. Elegant. Rebellious. Full of flowing lines and floral curves — a style born in fin-de-siècle Vienna, now available again to be reimagined in the 21st century. Start designing your very own Art Nouveau wallpaper today.

@oldstocky We heartily agree. So we make authentic Delft tiles with AI. You specify the designs, and our trained models make art historically accurate interpretations of your prompt. And then we fire them in kilns in Stoke and send them to you.

@Empty_America It really depends on the medium I think! Factum Foundation in Spain have done some quite cool work for example on oil paintings, though not yet at production scales. We do ceramic printing for Delft-ish tiles all designed by AI.

So I'm still not super impressed with AI Art (versus just buying prints of the best human paintings). But if it does reach the level where you can customize and design a "painting" for the wall, how is the print made? Are there companies that make high quality prints from AI?

Our Mission AI is a magnificent tool for human creativity. At Not Quite Past, we want to make AI beautiful and useful, playful while rooting it in artistic traditions and styles. And, most importantly, we want to make physical, well-made, useful objects, combining AI imagery with high-quality manufacturing. Let’s use the miraculous image-making powers of AI to make our homes and buildings more beautiful and meaningful.

In the Not Quite Past workshop, click the tab entitled “Guide with Image” (seen above). Upload your chosen photo, describe your image clearly in the prompt box (the more clearly and exactly worded, the better), pick a Delft tile style to render the image in, and hit “Submit”. In a matter of moments, you will have three variants of that photograph interpreted as a Delft tile motif. We’ve come up with some ideas to show off the power of this new tool……

So much space was surrendered that even if you did catch a train into a city center today, you'd be stranded without a car. The overpass rattling by Richmond's Main St Station tells you everything about the attitude of planners to the railways...

America built the greatest train stations ever seen — and then demolished them. Here's what the American railway was like at its peak. And what destroying it says about us… (thread) 🧵

I am delighted to announce that I will be joining @WorksInProgMag full time as an editor at the end of this month, working on architecture, urbanism and urban policy. We are planning a hugely ambitious programme of work on the triumphs and failures of cities, throughout history and across the world. I am also extremely pleased to be remaining as a Senior Fellow at the @CPSThinkTank, shaping housing and planning policy in Britain in the years ahead.

The Taj Mahal with the classic Delftware web hoekmotief (corner motif). We take cutting edge technology and make it both traditional and truly playful. You can build beautiful walls with the stories you want to tell.
