I recently read a small pocket-sized book called First Teacher by Chingiz Aitmatov. The story is full of grit and empathy. I loved it.

In Kala Bazaar, there is a 6-minute sequence from the real Mughal-e-Azam premiere, and if the use of star cameos is the yardstick, Vijay Anand thoroughly outclassed Manmohan Desai (Naseeb) and Farah Khan (Om Shanti Om). I rate it equal to Satyajit Ray's memory game sequence.
