Tried the LIDL Cloud... Apart from a pretty bad signup experience (very long delays on verification codes)... What is the issue with accepting the rest of EU?

@POLITICOEurope Glad at least somebody realizes this. Now, at the speed Europe changes its laws it will be another 5 years before these laws are changed at which point we will only be 15 years behind the curve.

European regulations introduced 10 years ago were the beginning of the end for the continent’s position in the AI race, Finnish MEP Aura Salla said. “It all requires data if we want to develop any AI models. And that’s something that we are lacking in Europe.” #POLITICOAITech

@EuroTasteDaily @POLITICOEurope GDPR killed off many big data startups of which there were many in 2014. It also prevents European automotive manufacturers from developing self-driving technology as it requires indiscriminate data collection through cameras in the cars.

This narrative is worth challenging. Europe's data deficit is real. But GDPR didn't create it — the US platform dominance that preceded GDPR did. The question is whether different data rules would have produced European AI champions, or whether the capital market and talent pipeline gaps would have produced the same outcome regardless.

The best thing about 2026 so far is that my father finally stopped reading just Russian propaganda news and diversified to read both “alternative” and traditional news to see different perspectives.

@maria_drutska What about the airspace over Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria? Iran is already closed. They would have to fly over Pakistan.

Algeria has been acting as a key sanctions-evasion hub for Russia. Hundreds of cargo flights between Russia and other countries had stopovers in Algeria, using large transports like the An-124 and Il-76. Looks like another sanctions loophole needs to be closed.

You have to look at this line by line though, banks are extremely bad at technology and a vast amount is just keeping ancient dinosaur systems alive that run on Cobol or whatever on IBM mainframes. What is really stopping cross-border European banking is how debt claims are underwritten, registered and recovered (underwriting data, liens, claims, foreclosure). American banks have terrible underwriting data, US companies don't publish full accounts but in Europe every country publishes it's own version of accounts. Europe should just pull in a commitee of risk managers of every nation and ask them which documents they rely on and then standardize those and make them machine readable and independently verifiable. Ask them if they have problems collecting if things go wrong and why and then go and fix those issues (uniform procedures, centralized liens management so companies can't pledge collateral twice, clear order of claims in case of default,...) Allow blacklists across the union (now forbidden in some member states) for both company entities and people (subject to appeal to prevent abuse of power). Last, one must not confuse banking that deals with deploying pension capital (investment banking) with retail and SME banking. Goldman Sachs is primarily an investment bank serving pension funds. We don't have the scale of pension funds here which should be addressed by the supplementary pension reforms the commission has planned.

Why is the American hate campaign seem coordinated and intense? It’s because it’s a dark money funded ecosystem and billionaires are funding it. I’ll break down what I’ve found:

@stefanauer_hku Of course it can be done, an independent judiciary that applies the rules the same way to oligarchs as to common men is not something that would hinder the war effort.

‘Ukraine doesn’t need symbolic membership in the EU’, Zelenskyy said. ‘Ukraine is defending itself and is definitely defending Europe. And it is not defending Europe symbolically -people are really dying.’ EU overpromising & underdelivering has consequences.

We moeten dat stand-still principe zo snel mogelijk afschaffen.

Counter-Swarm Defense @bosmeny A Patriot missile costs $3 million. An FPV drone costs $500. All the cost advantage lies with the attackers, and the next wave isn't one drone, it's swarms. Drone defense is starting to look less like operating a weapon and more like running a real-time distributed system. We want to fund founders building the counter-swarm stack.

@PietroVentani @TheMichaelEvery This is not that likely tbh, trade authority is centralized in the EU, sanchez is going to be voted out next election and the EU has a lot more leverage over eurozone countries. Plus after the success of the Brexit, leaving the EU is politically toxic.

Who knows, but if I wanted an indicator the U.S. & EU will end up on the same side —apart from cooperation on critical minerals & the French now saying they want 30% tariffs on China!— it would be the FT & The Economist arguing the West will divorce. Then Jim Cramer.
