As an expat who has called the UAE home for over two decades, it's tough to watch from miles away what the country and its people are going through after the apocalyptic rain this week. Prayers to all those who have lost their hard-earned money, livelihoods, and homes. But I am sure the city will overcome. If a metropolis like #Dubai can be built from sand, there is no doubt it will come out of this even stronger. Dubai is a testament to the hard work and resilience of its people. When faced with nature's fury, we will rise above it. A big shoutout to the authorities and the incredible people of Dubai who are showing remarkable grit, resilience, and community spirit in overcoming this challenge together. Sending love and prayers to all.❤️❤️ #WeShallOvercome #dubairain

Here's the reason why much of UAE is under water at the moment. UAE is a country in the middle East consisting of seven different Emirates. Most part of the country is covered by desert so water is kinda difficult to get by. Although they have developed good artificial irrigation systems to keep crops and plants watered. Nothing can substitute the effect of natural rain water on crops. Plus it cools down the temperature, reduces heat and the typical dry wind that's one of the characteristics of a desert area. In mid 2000, UAE started using a technique called "Cloud Seeding" to induce rain. Cloud seeding is a weather modification technique where substances, such as silver iodide or potassium iodide, are dispersed into clouds to encourage precipitation, typically rain or snow. But in UAE, natural salts are used as seeding agents because silver iodide is a harmful chemical. Dubai and most part of the UAE, uses cloud seeding to increase rainfall and alleviate water scarcity. They often employ aircraft or ground-based generators to disperse the seeding agents into clouds. The particles introduced into the clouds facilitate the formation of precipitation, which can help replenish water resources. This has been working for them until recently. The rain kept pouring and wouldn't stop. And as a country that doesn't see much rain, they never anticipated that a day would come when flooding will be an issue. So they might not have paid enough attention to their drainage systems. So, most parts of UAE as we know it is under water at the moment. One UAE citizen, a 70 year old man, died after his car was swept away by flood. And Oman, a country that shares land borders with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen has reported 19 fatalities so far.

@rta_dubai Evening 6 to 7 pm Gold class towards Union to Etisalat station is pointless now. People without gold class are traveling in it. Most of the time because of the crowd the gold class doors to the other compartment is kept open. And people use gold class door to exit.

Emerging and innovative technology companies are changing the reality of life, it’s trends and the economy every day. In the UAE, we are accustomed to being proactive in adopting new technologies to improve human life. In this regard, I explored with Sam Altman, CEO of Open AI, the developer of ChatGPT, opportunities for cooperation and ways to strengthen partnerships around artificial intelligence solutions. Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE will continue to be a pioneer in creating an environment that supports the adoption of artificial intelligence applications and benefit from them in all aspects of life.
