Listen guys. I’ve flown in and out of LGA more times than I can count. There was nothing “out of the ordinary” going on. I even recognized the controllers voice. He’s a rockstar.
And that’s on top of the fact that LGA is not an easy facility to get into as a controller. Apex of the career type stuff.
I’m not saying this is what happened. But what it ‘sounds like….’
Is that the truck was a little sluggish on the crossing clearance. Then the controller realized the truck was slow as his attention was diverted momentarily dealing with the United “emergency” and tried to stop the truck from crossing…. Who it seems like was probably distracted on their own accord listening to multiple frequencies and trying to figure out what they were responding to.
**I don’t know** where the a/c was as far as energy state.. this is likely going to be a critical detail.
The flight crew CAN go around (abort the landing) until they can’t.
Some of the passengers have recounted a firm touchdown before the impact with the truck. Which would mean that the aircraft was on rollout and likely [as is normal in LGA] they would’ve deployed the reversers almost immediately. You CAN go around, until the reversers come out.
Long and short of it… like all accidents. It’s almost never JUST 1 thing.
I WILL say that accidents like these are in some morbid way a testament to how safe air travel has become. Similar to the DCA accident with the Blackhawk. SO many things went sideways in such a short time span that the circumstances left virtually no time for ANYONE to react.
And they’ll find a fix for this.

This is gonna make one hell of an incident study.
My heart goes out to the families of the crew.
This one gave even my wife a pause.

PREDICTION: Trump's fake negotiations are just a delaying tactic to set up a weekend invasion of Iran with U.S. Marines. They will land, I believe, EAST of the Strait of Hormuz, because sailing through the Strait would be suicide. My bet is on landing near Chabahar. This will only happen AFTER markets close, of course. If Trump proceeds with this, there will be thousands of U.S. Marines killed, and the American people won't be told about any of them.

If Iran wins, it's the end of five eras. 1991-2026: the unipolar era 1974-2026: the petrodollar era 1945-2026: the postwar era 1776-2026: the union era 1492-2026: the Western era Specifically, the end of the petrodollar (1974) would also be the end of the unipolar moment (1991) and the postwar order (1945). It would mark the moment when Eurasian powers were once again dominant over Western powers (1492). Finally, a rapid crash in the dollar's purchasing power coupled with military defeat could well break apart the American union (1776). Few seem to viscerally understand just how dependent America is on money printing. But the end of the petrodollar is the end of Keynesianism as we know it. And if there's a sudden cost-of-living spike on top of pre-existing levels of political polarization, which are already near Civil War levels...we could see the scenarios that Dalio, the Fourth Turning, and Turchin have described.
