@realMattKParker @BasedIgor I’m currently halfway through volume 2 and finding it stunningly brilliant, which seems funny because it’s about French Aristocracy…
English

@BasedIgor @nr_wayne nice; I still have never read Proust. 😭
English

@draxtor What is that supposed to mean?😗 I’m just at ETA to play tennis. Damn, that woman needs to lock her office!

@mutianning I would concur with that number, roughly. The friends and family I’ve bullied it on say the same thing. I also had 2 false starts when I first tried, now I’m almost finished my 5th journey with it. It’s rewards are magnified with each reread!

@nr_wayne About IJ, I’m curious. Different people seem to have vastly different ideas on the page count where things start to congeal for them. Most say 200?Is that true for you?

@GibsonMich34 @nr_wayne He killed himself when he was still working on it, and his publishers put it together best they could as per his wishes

@nrp_artworks @CounterCultCC @caymanchess Each day I try to model this for 12 year old students and my own children. To strive for tranquility by being present. Less often does mean more! Grace, gratitude. I worry for what the future may hold for young people. I assume y’all have read/heard his ‘This is Water’ speech?!
English

@CounterCultCC @caymanchess @nr_wayne Great insight, apt for our current ‘optimize everything’ terminally online culture.
English

@JeffFalzone Wicked. You will NOT be disappointed. Have you read IJ??😀
English

@nr_wayne Okay, I've been putting it off, using the 'unfinished' as my weak excuse. You've convinced me. This year, it's mine.

#InternationalWomensDay
is every day, of course. Here are some favorites. Not enough people talk about how great C.L Bennett is. Miss Mac could be the Great American Novel. The Sea, The Sea was stunning and I’m stoked to get back to Murdoch real soon. Then, there is Clarice 😍

English

@jenneralist Anneliese! Only because I accidentally ordered that first. Needless to say, I got about a third through and quickly ordered the other one !

Have you heard of this humongous, ambitious 5 volume mega-novel project? I’m telling you, this was magnificent! Highly original, hilarious and great fun to read. Do yourself a favor. Have a look at the following website and order today!

@nr_wayne @unnamedpress This or Weak in Comparison to Dreams? What is the best starting point? Does it even matter?
English

Part 1(sort of) of an ambitious 5-volume mega project I couldn’t possibly begin to articulate, nor would you be likely come close to understanding, how utterly fucking brilliant this novel is.
Seriously tweeps, do yourself a favor and just fucking order this @unnamedpress
Go!

English

@Kulambq Thanks for this!
It’s a book that has been calling to me for quite some time, and I aim to get to it this year. Tell me, is there a comparable you could attribute ? Have you read Hermann Broch?
English

I read 'The Magic Mountain' by Thomas Mann, and it transformed the summer of 2019 into one of the most unforgettable periods of my life.

During a very dark period, what was the best thing you ever did for your mental health?
