Before the clash, organizers escorted out Andre Williams of Detroit, who identified as a counter-protester. He told the @freep he was “exercising [his] rights” by waving an American flag and shouting at protesters who shouted at him. He later returned to the event, saying: “They didn’t like that because it’s political opposition. These are very tumultuous times politically in this country.”
