The very existence of an individual called #Tiruvalluvar has been questioned by some historians. They argue that Tirukkural was written by a group of people. Yet, on social media so many are sure Tiruvalluvar was a Hindu,he was a Jain, he was a Christian, he did not have any religion to be attached to etc. etc. etc. To be so certain when even the experts on the subject don't know is vera level.

ICC should bring back Champions League. I know it was shut down cuz it wasn't profitable. But, I think it may work this time.

There are books by Dickens, Tolstoy, Austen that many in the West pretend to have read, but haven't. They are used only for namedropping. The same can be said about Thirukural. 90% of Tamils have not read it. They only know the popular couplets included in school syllabus.

@bhogleharsha Hopefully, lessons are learnt from the falling viewership and drabness of many matches and the @IPL comes back stronger next year. As the group closest to the action, I feel all commentators should provide their inputs to the organizing committee.

Another IPL ends. Exhausting, exhilarating. Late nights and early mornings. Can't remember room numbers. Days merge and matches follow like trains at a station. But this is the IPL and you don't miss it for anything.

@MtcChennai Can you pl change the horn on the new SWITCH buses to sound like a bus horn instead of a bike horn. At 6am today, I was on a bike when I heard incessant honking behind me. It sounded like a bike but I was shocked to see a 101ct bus.

I think it was @ArunKrishnan_ who asked for a good name for this class of dunderheaded whitesplaining of our own traditions. Someone suggested truschplaining and I thought of schuersplaining in the honor of the most famous Schuer, Kudratey Schuer. You all can decide. A

@SagasofBharat Hindutva is not the same as Hinduism. Try to remember that. There is likely to be Hindus at the conference in support.

@cvkrishnan Agree on the two gents. However, saying that NS is unfit is not a good thought. Macroeconomics has faced its greatest challenges in the last few years and I doubt anyone else could have navigated it better...

Would love to see Annamalai Tejasvi surya and Jay Panda into cabinet instead of Nirmala Sitharaman, L Murugan & Dharmendra Pradhan.

Seeing the success that Vijay has achieved must have given ideas to Annamalai that the Tamil Nadu voter isn't that discerning and can be persuaded to vote for anyone. 😀

Absolutely no Tamil Hindu wants to go through such exhausting conversations on culture if the politicians would just let us celebrate our festivals in peace. Yet every Tamil New year, every Pongal, every Deepavali, every Vaikashi Anusham, we are dragged into the same arguments because some politician decides to poke or provoke or appropriate our traditions and Rishis. If Udhay hadn't triggered this conversation, and if Minister Arunraaj had simply ignored those remarks instead of taking the bait, why would any sane Hindu voluntarily spend his time and energy countering this agenda? To say it wouldn't make any difference how Valluvar is depicted is doing a disservice to the man who stood for வாய்மை, the truth. EVR had rightly cancelled Thirukural for its irrationality and "regressive" male-centeredness from his materialist POV. Stockists should have nothing to do with the God fearing, staunch vegetarian teetoaler one-woman man named Valluvar. But they don't leave him alone. Why? Because the ancient Tamil world offers them no heroes who naturally fit into their ideological mould. So they torture Valluvar's Kurals full of brevity to force fit them into their ideology. Any Tamil scholar worth their salt would tell you Valluvar was either a Jain or a Hindu (by today's umbrella) , there is simply no 3rd option. This is not just about what attire some old sage should be depicted in because this is not just about Thiruvalluvar. They have already removed the Thiruneeru from Vallalaar, they are claiming Pazhani Murugar is not even Murugar, they will find a Buddha face behind every Perumaal murthy there is. Because this is blatant Hindumisia we are dealing with. If they just let us Hindus celebrate and worship in peace, we'd absolutely love it. This is a reaction to their action. If you hate the noise, question those who keep lighting the fire, instead of silencing those who are reacting to contain its toxic smoke.

What difference does it make if #Thiruvalluvar is portrayed in saffron, green, yellow, red, or any other colour? He remains Thiruvalluvar regardless of the attire. The country is facing countless pressing issues, yet debates continue over whether he should be depicted in saffron or white. When this issue was raised during the #DMK government, what exactly did the #BJP gain from it? And now, if the same debate is revived under the #TVKVijay‌ government, what is anyone expecting to achieve? Will portraying Thiruvalluvar in saffron bring votes to the BJP? Likewise, will insisting that he should only be shown in white bring votes to any other party? Instead of getting caught up in the colour of Thiruvalluvar's attire, think about whether we have read the Thirukkural, truly understood its meaning, and made any effort to apply its teachings in our daily lives. Those are the questions that genuinely deserve our attention.

These youngsters in India are doing a great job finding issues and vulnerabilities on govt sites and IT infra. They are also saying, at least @ni5arga told me, he gets "boilerplate thank you" from CERT_In and other departments. Nothing else. But, imo, these youngsters must not just be acknowledged but must be rewarded and used as assets of the state. Why hire only costly "cybersecurity experts" now when sitting all along with simple security issues that can be discovered by kids from home? It would be good if these youngsters are all acknowledged publicly, rewarded, and invited to be a part of some CERT_IN initiative to find security and other issues in all govt sites and apps if they like to. They will feel rewarded and acknowledged, the public will feel the govt is acting and giving opportunities to the talented, and GoI benefits from low cost fixes for low hanging fruit issues before it blows up. I always feel India is sitting on so much of free high quality talent in everything from cyber security to infowar to AI (just read about how much Indian youngsters contributed to github) and OSInt, but are not being used by the state ecause of rigid sarkari systems and some kind of "we know it already" attitude. GoI needs to create some sidetrack program for the talented in India to work with the Govt in many areas. Also, a site for getting internships with MPs for Indian college students will be good.
