In 2012, security officers fatally shot Omar Faraj at his Mombasa residence during the night. An investigation conducted by a British investigative journalist, @nshabibi, uncovered that Faraj was, in reality, slain by a paramilitary commando team created, trained, equipped, and guided by the CIA under the guise of 'counterterrorism' operations. In 2021, @MUHURIkenya pursued legal action over the unlawful killing. The verdict has been delivered: "the killing was unwarranted... unjustifiable and unlawful." This marks a significant victory for the Faraj family. While the ruling cannot undo their loss, it underscores a crucial point: the wrongful death of an innocent individual cannot occur without consequences.
