As of March 1, 2026, the Need a Family Practice Registry dropped by 2,569 people in just one month—bringing the total to 63,221 Nova Scotians. That means 94% of Nova Scotians are now attached to a primary care provider, such as a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

The results are clear. Housing starts have more than doubled compared to what we saw under the previous Liberal and NDP governments. Our plan is delivering, and we are staying focused on what matters most: building More Housing, Faster. ✅

Our 2026-27 budget makes major investments in the services Nova Scotians rely on. That includes more funding for school lunch programs, recruiting healthcare professionals, and building affordable housing.

Nova Scotians voiced their concerns about parts of this year’s budget. After listening, we are restoring funding for supports for people with disabilities, seniors, and students pursuing education. These programs make a real difference in people’s lives, and protecting them is the right thing to do. We never intended to negatively impact those who rely on the disability support system in Nova Scotia. The disability support system in Nova Scotia is undergoing significant changes as we implement the Remedy, which moves to an individualized funding model. This was ordered by the courts in 2021 and is a good thing, but it became clear more time was needed to ensure this transition is successful. We will take this time. We are making record investments in healthcare, infrastructure, and education. We’re investing $66 million in arts and culture this year, which is more than when we formed government. We’ll continue to invest in Nova Scotia.

🏘️ Our PC government is investing more in affordable housing. Budget 2026–27 includes an 80% increase in funding for affordable housing owned by non-profit groups — helping more Nova Scotians find a safe, affordable place to call home. We’re delivering more housing, faster.

Our government’s plan is shortening surgical wait times. ✅ The surgical waitlist is now at a 10-year low. ✅ That’s a 33% drop from the peak in 2022. ✅ Nova Scotia is now a national leader in surgical wait times for hip replacements, knee replacements, and cataract surgeries.

You can’t demand more spending while criticizing the deficit without being honest about the trade-offs. Nova Scotians deserve to know: what would the NDP cut, or what tax would they raise to pay for it?

Would they scale back funding for seniors care and new long-term care rooms across the province?

The NDP call additional appropriations wasteful and reckless. They suggest they’d balance the books by cutting them. Our PC government made these investments because Nova Scotians expect action—on healthcare, on seniors care, and on training the next generation of doctors.

Governing means making tough decisions. Nova Scotians deserve to know: what would the NDP cut, or what taxes would they raise?

At the same time, Claudia Chender claims the NDP “don’t have access to the books.” The truth is they had the budget, direct access to the ministers, the department officials, and hours to ask questions — and they chose not to.

The NDP had the opportunity to question government departments on the budget today — and they walked away from it. Opposition MLAs are given up to 40 hours to question departments and hold government accountable. Today, the NDP quit after less than 30 minutes.
