If Bernie's 5% annual wealth tax on billionaires had been enacted in 2012, Elon Musk would be worth less than $365 billion instead of the $834 billion that he's worth today. He'd still be the wealthiest man alive & every senior would have dental, vision & hearing under Medicare.

BREAKING: Today Bernie Sanders is proposing a bill to raise $4.4 trillion in taxes from America’s billionaires — a move that would virtually cut their massive fortunes in half. A chunk of the money would go toward sending a $3K stimulus check to every person earning under $150K.

WTTW reports what Chicagoans have been saying for weeks: the math doesn’t math. The Corporate Caucus’s “alternative budget” is built on bad math and hidden costs for working families. City financial officials reviewed the plan and found: • fake savings that don’t exist • cuts that eliminate 5,100 youth jobs • fee hikes that hit the poorest Chicagoans hardest • legal risks that could blow the whole budget • assumptions that “jeopardize Chicago’s financial position” Meanwhile, the Protecting Chicago Budget is grounded in real numbers, real programs, and real impact — funding violence prevention and youth jobs by asking the wealthiest corporations to chip in, not by doubling garbage fees on families. If you want a real budget, not fantasy math: Tell your alder to support the Protecting Chicago Budget. Keep Chicago open. Keep investing in our communities. Tax the rich — not the people who keep this city running.

At the 18th Street Pink Line, Reverend Tanya Lozano asked one simple question: Who should pay for this city: the working families who make it run or the billionaires who keep getting a free ride? Chicagoans didn’t hesitate. Ping-pong ball after ping-pong ball landed in the same tube: Tax the rich. The Protecting Chicago Budget keeps schools, parks, libraries, youth jobs and mental health care wholewithout raising property taxes. Tell your alder to vote YES. Working families have already paid enough.

After ICE agents raided a Chicago day care Wednesday morning and arrested a teacher that has citizenship documents, U.S. @RepMikeQuigley (D-IL) says President Donald Trump is using the city to condition Americans to normalize him using the military against his own people. "He's getting you used to using the military as a toy. He's getting you used to this. He's not one year into his second term here... This isn't a continuation; it's an escalation. And frankly, you're just starting to see how horrific it can get."

The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker. And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows. No more.

I think it’s safe to say that International Law is dead. The mechanisms to enforce it have all failed. The UN has failed. It has literally allowed a member state to kill hundreds of its workers. Every treaty, law, convention to prevent genocide has completely failed.

SCOTUS just legalized racial profiling, and ICE is already denying a person's right to due process — abducting, detaining and deporting whoever they want. This is how white nationalism overthrows a country.
