I vehemently disagree that the #SFGiants are screwing Eldridge by not having him play every day in the minors. He has nothing to prove there. I think he would obviously benefit from playing 5-6 days a week here, which Vitello could accomplish by rotating Schmitt among ....

@BontaHill He’s indirectly blocking Eldridge. Schmitt isn’t going anywhere. He can play 2B next season. Unload Arraez and Ray for some pieces.

Vitello without quite saying it this bluntly is pretty clear that Eldridge mostly will come off the bench with Devers the primary 1B and Schmitt the team’s most productive hitter all year. He will made some starts here and there, but most of his ABs will be pinch hitting spots.

Pinch hitting is one of the HARDEST things to do in all of sports. Let’s throw our 21 year old top prospect into that DAILY. What a mess this organization is.

Well, that’s a gift. The fact that he’s got power, well that’s a gift. The fact that he can hit the ball out the opposite way, well that’s a gift. From what I’ve seen so far, this guy’s gotta get more at bats. If I’m Patrick Bailey, and all likelihood Bailey is gonna catch today, I’m trying to kick it in gear and get my bat going because there’s a guy that’s having great at bats and taking time away from me. This marks the 3rd game in a row that Patrick Bailey has not started. It feels like they are clearly surveying other options, hoping to find a solution elsewhere. That would open it up to Eric Haase, Jesús Rodríguez, and eventually Daniel Susac.
