@rzweather Vividly remember that day, I was out riding my bike when Mobile County decided to become tornado ally on a marginal risk day

@nwfltracking That's about the way it goes. Last time I went to Orlando for a week, we had like 3 out of the 7 days with tornado warning coverage. I have not been back. 😂

While showers and storms will be possible outside of these time frames, this the MAIN time frame for storms listed by county for Saturday, May 9, 2026.

@rzweather No rain for like three months until I plan a trip, maybe I should plan more to help with this drought

@rzweather Presumably outdated server/processing systems. Website still has an early 2010s feel to it. Would have to imagine that site upgrades aren’t anywhere close to being discussed given current budget restrictions.

@rzweather We’re all good, the actual house has been struck twice before so we’re (unfortunately) used to it

Thunderstorms near Pensacola, Pace, Milton, Allentown, Berrydale, Dixonville, East Brewton, Brewton, and L Pond continue to advance eastward. Occasional loud thunder is happening with this narrow band of storms. Heads up Gulf Breeze, Tiger Point, Munson, Damascus. Storms are moving in!

🔥Dangerous fire conditions are expected tomorrow as ongoing drought and gusty winds may result in rapidly spreading fires. Please follow guidance of local officials and use extreme caution. Any fires that do start may be difficult to control and spread rapidly. #mobwx

If AMS 2026 has taught me 1 thing about weather comms it’s that we must combat clickbait and misinformation on OFFENSE by calling it out directly. It won’t go away as long as people get rewarded by $. Most dangerous when it comes from large accounts including certain degrees mets

While driving down 98, I was in awe at how well Mexico Beach had recovered. It has rebounded into a beautiful beach town with plenty of people walking along the beach and throughout the area in general. It is amazing to see the level of resilience and recovery here.

On October 10th, 2018, Hurricane Michael made a direct hit on Mexico Beach, Florida at category 5 strength, becoming the first category 5 to hit the continental U.S. since 1992. Today, I had the honor of visiting this small beach town.

@PensacolaWx There will be no accumulation on roads. Last years event was preluded by days of sub 40 degree temperatures. There is too much heat remaining in the asphalt/concrete to allow for accumulation. Could certainly see up to an inch on grass in some areas, but it will be gone quickly

@nwfltracking Been hearing this said a lot too. The chance for even an inch of snow anywhere in the county is very low, let alone 10 inches. Even if this overperforms, we would still only be looking at an inch of snow on elevated surfaces that's gone by noon. Many aren't understanding that.

IF it snows in Santa Rosa County tonight, it will not even be close to the magnitude as last year. Yes, we *might* get some flurries, or perhaps even some accumulation, but we will not see another event like last year in our lifetimes.
