@ReissNFFC What's that supposed to mean? You can be upset but half the starting 11 are out and we got stuffed by the better team on the night. If it was the other way around you wouldn't say the opposition was a disgrace. Your summaries are usually spot on. I just dont agree its a disgrace.

This has been the most brilliant journey but we’ve gone out with an absolute whimper tonight. Outfought all over the pitch, outfought in the dugout. No idea what our plan was tonight at all. Let the fans down tonight, disgrace of a performance #NFFC

How the British monarchy deals with assassination attempts: in 1994, Prince Charles, now King, was shot at during a visit to Sydney, Australia. He was unfazed, adjusting his cuffs as security reacted.

This essay by @alexolegimas is the best thing I've ever read on why AGI won't lead to mass unemployment. A compelling argument backed up by substantial empirical data.

Joe Cole speaking on why this current Chelsea team really needs experienced players. He used himself as an example on how Makelele guided him during an ongoing match while he struggled as an AM in his early days at Chelsea and the rest was history.

📽️ From Donald Trump to Britain's wind power trade body, there's a growing coalition calling for more drilling in the North Sea. Raising the question: if we DID encourage more exploration, how much oil & gas could we actually get? Our MEGA primer on the North Sea👇 Ps it's longer than usual, but it turns out this topic has SO MANY misconceptions. Time to put some of them right. Let me know what you think

Something has to be done about Citizens United. Since January 2010 we’ve had unlimited money go to politicians. Campaign donations are up eight times since then and 36% of all that money is coming from the top 0.1% of the population. You think those people are donating out of patriotism? They are buying protection. Corporate tax cuts. No antitrust enforcement. No breakups. No accountability. And it is working perfectly. We used to bust monopolies in this country. Teddy Roosevelt made it a centerpiece of American democracy. The idea was simple — concentrated power in the hands of a few is a threat to everyone else. We don’t do that anymore. Not because the monopolies got more virtuous. Because the monopolies got better at buying the people who would have stopped them. This is not a left issue or a right issue. This is a math issue. When 36 cents of every dollar in politics comes from a fraction of a fraction of the population — those are the only people getting served. The rest of us are just paying for the system that ignores us. Reform Citizens United. Bring back antitrust enforcement. Or watch it get worse. Loved my time on @RealTimers @billmaher

Earlier this week, we launched Wondercraft Video. Ahead of launch, we gave access to 10 creators and ran a $25K challenge to make our launch video. The results were wild and showed how AI video can be actually useful. RT and comment “WONDA” and I’ll DM you 1,000 free credits.

For the first time in years I’ve just been to the gym. I cannot believe it. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to do it again. And not just because I’m naturally a tubber. When I was diagnosed with chordoma, a rare form of spinal cancer, it was clear I was going to need radical surgery. The tumour was on my sacrum, a part of the body I’d never heard of. A 13 hour sacrectomy later, I now only have the top vertebrae left to connect my spine to my pelvis. To cover the huge gap where the bone was, I had flap surgery: muscles from my buttocks were pulled up and across and stitched together. It’s left me without any discernible buttocks. Sitting down is fine on soft surfaces, but on anything hard (don’t), I get terrible shooting pains in my balls. (Again, don’t). Because of all that and the nerve damage which means parts of my legs are numb, I can’t run. I’m not sure if I ever will be able to again. Plus the bum discomfort made me think I might not be able to use the exercise bike or rowing machine. My stoma means I wear a support band but I also presumed I wouldn’t be able to do weights. The worry has always been there at the back of my mind: apart from dieting, how am I going to be heathy? I want to be able to do cardio and strengthening exercises. Today, thanks to the amazing physio team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and @thernohcharity, I did my first gym session in YEARS. Treadmill, rowing machine, chest press and other weight-type machines I never wanted touch before. I cannot believe it. I am BUZZING. For ten weeks I was in a hospital bed. I’d gaze out of the window and wonder about my future. Catastrophic nerve pain destroyed me for weeks. One thought nagged me. ‘I don’t want a sh*t life’. Ironic for someone with a stoma. But I was worried about living a smaller life, defined by the things I couldn’t do. Of course I’ve had to adjust, but I cannot believe the things my body can now do. At one point, I’d been in a hospital bed so long my legs had bent back and I couldn’t straighten them, the muscles had atrophied so severely. The RNOH physios worked wonders getting me to walk again. Over a year ago I started doing Reformer Pilates. It has been fundamental to my recovery. I cannot thank @APPIHealthGroup enough. It’s helped me build core strength and transformed my walking. So if you’re recovering from major surgery, cancer treatment or any health scare, just know that progress happens. It can be glacial. For periods you may not see it or feel it. It won’t happen overnight. But over a longer stretch you’ll notice that you get things back. You may never get back to where you were, but you might have a new perspective that means you’re healthier and stronger in other ways. Cancer has made me cut down on processed foods. My stoma has made me more aware of what I eat. I always thought weights were for knobs, but losing muscle after surgery has made me realise how important it is to build it. In time, you’ll adjust and you’ll be amazed at how well you’ve recovered. So don’t lose heart.

@CallumCastel7 The two times Nuno has failed (Spurs and now West Ham), he wasn’t allowed to take his own staff. We’re very lucky to have Rui though, and the shape and structure we’ve played with the last few games very much seems to have his hallmark.

Enzo Maresca’s dismissal was the fifth time a Premier League manager has been sacked after winning two trophies the previous season. The other four sackings were Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto de Matteo and Jose Mourinho. The clubs doing the sacking were Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea…and Chelsea.

This is the best tribute to Robbo I’ve read. He and Jonny had a special bond. They were like brothers. If you want to understand why Robbo is so beloved, this explains it: thetimes.com/article/3bd614…
