“Deserve” is such a funny word. USA didn’t deserve to win. Canada deserved better. I didn’t deserve to get cheated on by my ex wife. I deserved to play in the NHL longer. Deserve is such an entitled word stroked by the ego for those who feel sorry for themselves and can’t face the music of harsh truth or reality. Last time I checked, life isn’t fair. Sports aren’t fair. And shit happens. What a rueful way to go about your life. Looking at your own chin in the mirror can be scary for most. And last time I checked a goalie is still a massive piece of a hockey team. Dont take the shine away from what us Americans should be happy about today. “Deserved” lol.

@TSNRyanRishaug Draisatl wouldn’t have signed his 8 year deal without McDavid saying otherwise. Relax

Sounds like Stan Bowman and Jeff Jackson are in Ontario, and meetings have begun with McDavids agent Judd Moldaver. Broader discussions about the organization and direction are the starting point. Again, would expect this to push well past July 1st as the two sides take their time working their way through different aspects of the negotiations. My sense is there are no numbers being tossed around at this point, but bigger picture discussions under way.

@PoolNuge3 You literally can’t hit him. Just stay between him and the net and they’ll be okay

I like the Arvidsson swap. I like the Pickard call.
No complaints.
Patrick Puff@Patrick_Puff
As per Kris Knoblauch: - Pickard Starts - Stecher Stays In - Arvidsson in for Kapanen

Here’s how it sounded inside Rogers Place for the overtime winner.
Electric doesn’t even begin to describe it.

@worldhockeyrpt He’s hurt. He’s avoiding all contact if you focus in on watching just him

@SportsnetSpec The game was pretty even if not in favour of the oil the first 45 minutes. They were up 2 and in a good spot-just blew a lead. Calm down. “Oh no mcdavid and draisatl aren’t dominating every shift-let’s panic!”
English

@Sportsnet @SportsnetSpec They literally lost in the cup final game 7 by a goal last year. And now they’re down 1-0 in the first round. What kind of headline is this?
English

Whenever this playoff run ends, the Oilers will have to make big decisions on Stuart Skinner and Evan Bouchard.
Game 1 was an example of why many question whether they're the right complementary players to help the Oilers win the Cup. (@SportsnetSpec) sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/ca…

@nucci39 Thanks for taking LA again this year figgy. When will you learn?
English

@zjlaing Probably better last night than game 1 of the playoffs. Would have happened either way. Gives them time to plan and prepare differently now
English

if it’s this serious, why did he even play last night?
Ryan Rishaug@TSNRyanRishaug
Tough news for Oilers and Ekholm. Hearing there are further tests to be done, but it’s believed to be a serious injury that worst case scenario may end his season, best case scenario will keep him sidelined for quite some time.

@jjjavaris @No_ad_logicam @frank_seravalli What? They had guys in close proximity to the bench and guys on the ice like a typical line change. During this time - the puck came by all of them. Also during this time no one touched the puck- meaning no call was to be made. If any had played the puck then yes-penalty 👍
English

@nyar88 @No_ad_logicam @frank_seravalli and it resulted in an icing …. the reason nobody touched it is because they realized it was three different lines on the ice you ass 😂

CONNOR MCDAVID wins it for Canada 🇨🇦 in OT!
Canada reigns supreme again, capturing their fourth consecutive best-on-best title - over an incredible span of 15 years.

@ryanwhitney6 Oh ya , the goalie won it for Canada! We’re way better we should have won! But you lost? Let the excuses roll in!
English

@frank_seravalli Yeah, that missed too many men on the ice call wasn’t great
English

@BizNasty2point0 Guaranteed he stops at his own net next game. Biz probably did him a favour his coaches weren’t willing to give him

The tape is the tape. Bedard is an incredible talent and still young. People acting like I got personal when all I said is there are bad habits that I’m still seeing after 120 games played in the league. What does age have to do with stopping in front of your own net on a back check when the player involved turned it over? These are choices any player at any age can make. Pointing out losing habits doesn’t take away from the good in his game. My job is to analyze. Was I wrong in my breakdown?
Spittin' Chiclets@spittinchiclets
“That is pond hockey.” @BizNasty2point0 wants to see Bedard take his game to the NHL level and leave the pond hockey behind.
