What happened in Minnesota is a warning. It’s the direct result of sanctuary policies that weaken law enforcement and put politics ahead of public safety. Maine has the same problem: a Democrat governor and legislature protecting illegal aliens instead of backing the people who keep us safe. I’ll stand with law enforcement. I’ll enforce the rule of law. And I’ll protect Maine citizens, period.

@hodgetwins @justinamash Try doing a little investigation. A year ago the same officer was dragged by an illegal aliens car. He required hundreds of stitches. There is a video where it is clear that the car struck the officer. I would have shot her too if it were me. Stop the BS.

@justinamash There is a better angle where can clearly see the vehicle strike the agent. Stop your bull shit. Let the investigation do its job. Stop convicting the officer without all the facts.

Many people believe the legal threshold for self-defense is lower for government officers than for ordinary citizens. It’s not. There’s one simple test for evaluating whether an officer’s use of force was unlawful or justified as self-defense. Ask yourself: If you, an ordinary citizen, did the same thing the officer did, how would your actions be assessed? If someone were obstructing a street in your neighborhood, and you demanded they move, and everyone were in the same physical positions and took the same actions, would you be justified in shooting the driver of the vehicle? I can say, unequivocally, that if you did the same thing the ICE officer in Minneapolis did, you would be found guilty of a crime, and your claim of self-defense would be rejected outright.

@justinamash There is a way better angle where you can see the car hit the officer.

From the multiple angles I’ve seen—and this seems to be the clearest one—it does not look like the ICE officer who shot the woman was in any real danger when he opened fire into the vehicle. Fleeing an encounter because you’re scared should not be a death sentence.
