Our city has seen far too many devastating fires lately, destroying homes and taking lives. We need to take action. 
Today, the Council is announcing a push to add a fifth firefighter to @FDNY trucks across the city.

This morning at 26 Federal Plaza, I'm relieved to report that I saw no ICE agents roaming the halls & no abductions. On Monday, a federal judge confirmed what we’ve said for a year: ICE's arrests in NYC immigrant courts are lawless. For the last year, they've conducted kidnappings at our courthouses without regard for basic constitutional rights. It should be a national scandal. Yesterday, ICE arrested an asylum-seeker there, despite Judge Castel’s order, in flagrant disregard of constitutional democracy. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. Judge Castel has no enforcement brigade. But there is a movement of thousands of us who intend to keep showing up, in our courts & our communities, to be a people’s brigade for the rule of law.
