“From what I hear, #Jets want 4 players with those 1st 4 picks that can contribute right away. They want the roster set up well 2027. I don’t see them picking a QB high unless somebody falls much farther than expected.” - Chris Nimbley on today’s show: ⬇️ podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pla…

@OmariiBrown My most recent was JSN, I was begging for it the entire offseason. Picture perfect example of prospect fatigue.

@Playlikeajet1 2 out of the 4, maybe decent starters... it's impossible to hit on all 4.

@OmariiBrown CJ Allen would’ve been a top 5 pick back in the day, best run defender in the class.

@OmariiBrown Yeah and it’s great but it’s turning into a Tyreek situation where every time someone was short and fast, analyst automatically out that title on them. Guys like Reese can has athleticism for it but it’s unfair to put Micah-like expectations on him(who’s 1 of 1)

Meh, I’d say he’s fourth amongst the LB group in terms of versatility. sSolid prospect though. You were doing so well for about a week there Dooz! Reese Hill Jr Barham Golday
Leger Douzable@LegerDouzable

#11 Jake Golday Cincinnati. Is the most versatile defensive player in the draft. Can play off ball Will/Mike and Sam but also started off as an edge guy and has that skillet to be a Jack LB as an OLB in a 3-4. And he plays very physical. One of my favorite players in the draft

@DraftingJets 40 yard dashes also doesn’t always equate to game speed directly but for the purposes of this convo I was talking about when it does

@DraftingJets Fair, I shouldn’t speak in definite language but I was alluding to the fact that if a WR a speedster, you’ll almost never see a defense leave him one on one in coverage with no safety help(outside Gregg Williams lol). So WR can’t get away in the pros with only being fast.

40 times are less important when you (as a WR) are telling the story. It’s more important for CBs who need to anticipate, trail and recover.
Tyler Dunne@TyDunne

Fascinating back 'n forth from scouts to @BobMcGinn on the No. 1 WR in this class: Ohio State's Carnell Tate. Here's one scout's take: “Not overly explosive but a smooth-moving dude. Great hands. I had him at 4.5. All the best receivers are 4.5. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is 4.52. Puka Nacua is 4.6. Davante Adams (4.55). Who’s the last 4.3 that’s a great receiver? Tyreek Hill? It’s amazing. We make such a big deal out of 40 times with receivers but then just go down the list of great receivers. None of them ran 4.4, 4.3." @DraftingJets “In the case of a go route”, and with no option and given free release the receiver is essential running straight. In any scenario, the corner can have great straight line speed but horrible reaction time or slow hip flip and it doesn’t matter.

@nyjetsplanet In Cover 0 the WR isn’t just running straight—he gets a free release and can win leverage in multiple ways. That’s exactly why the CB needs real long speed, because if he loses a step there’s no one behind him. Listen, it's all good, take the L and learn from it

@DraftingJets But in the case of a go route against cover 0(where there’s no press) the reciever is just mostly running straight forward whereas corner needs to backpedal and flip their body. A 40 means more from a WR vs. a corner in that rare scenario(I expect hands from the corner)

@nyjetsplanet Some coverages inherently don’t give corners any safety help, like Cover 0, and even in others the offense can scheme the safety away. That’s why speed matters so much for CBs when they’re left on an island. I’m not trying to be a jerk, but I think it would help to look into this

If your pass rush is terrible, then you can easily draft two in this draft class and solve that problem for the next 5 years.

@Strongpeople72 @JetCastPod Surface level, I feel more comfortable with a QB that’s younger and at least 2 years for starts which a decent amount of guys will have next year. If they felt that strongly about Ty, they wouldn’t think he needs to sit an entire year at 23 years old.

@nyjetsplanet @JetCastPod Supposing the Jets think he's better than next yrs crew? Do you realize what's being said about next yr is exactly what they said last yr about this QB class!??! This shit is not an exact science! When you lock on to your guy you gotta go get him!

The Jets' scouting department faces a career-defining decision: Is Ty Simpson worth the 16th overall pick? Here's the reality: Simpson sitting behind Geno Smith for a year is an ideal development scenario. He gets to marinate, learn the pro game, and step in when ready. But this is a massive gamble for Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn. That 16th pick needs to deliver immediate impact. If they take Simpson and the Jets nosedive again, jobs are on the line. Period. I actually think Simpson at 16 wouldn't be a bad move for another team. But for the Jets specifically? They need a playmaker who can contribute NOW, not a project QB who needs seasoning. The question is: Are Mougey and Glenn willing to bet their careers on Simpson's upside? Because if they miss on this pick, you can expect a complete front office overhaul in 2027. What's your take? Should the Jets go QB at 16 or address immediate needs? Drop your takes below!
