Yes I slid drainage in there even though public works is not a general fund department but since we're taking money from the combined utility system to pay for police raises i figure it's fair game.

I encourage everyone to complete this survey. I'd also encourage you to remember that no department aside from HPD and Fire takes up more than 3% of the budget. So if you want more money for drainage, health, libraries, etc. let the city know!

Last thing, the survey asks if you're satisfied with a department, and then asks whether you think that dept should get more/less money. So you could say you're satisfied with libraries and that we're underinvesting, or that you're unsatisfied with cops but they get too much.

We all know we just need the police report number for our insurance. Let me go on about my life without waiting 2 hours for a cop to show up. Also, end non-safety traffic stops. People are running lights all over and y'all don't care, but an expired registration matters?

@gratifihouston This is a claim that the administration has made outside of the podcast. It came up during the budget workshop as well. This is a big issue I have with the city's efficiency study. It doesn't adequately examine the problems stemming from underinvestment in certain departments.

@oJaison It's an infomercial to sell a product, not a podcast to discuss an issue.

Something I don't understand is this implication that $25/mo is the high end. That solid waste will get smaller and more efficient while also becoming able to provide reliable service. It seems like *efficiency* is being prioritized over *reliability*. Am I missing anything?

Lol this is a great encouragement to elect Darrell Jordan for District Clerk. "He wants to make court processes faster. I don't like that" isn't the indictment she thinks it is.

I love that Zohran's fight to make New York City accessible to everyone goes beyond food and shelter. "This is your city, you should get to enjoy all that it has to offer," is a hell of a platform.

@ThomasDTiffany Agreed! I push for the official designation because it unlocks potential state funding for arts orgs within a district. Not because it has anything to do with a neighborhood's importance.

@oJaison But we are the cultural currency of the city. We dont need a district designation to define existence. At the end of the day it signals lack of intention and consideration. But its alright! I got it from here!!

I appreciate simple fixes that make our lives easier.

Today, our second Prop A ordinance to allow Houstonians to sign up online to speak before City Council passed unanimously! Now, in addition to still being able to call, email, fax, or register in-person, residents have another way to make their voices heard at City Hall.
