I'm fed up with seeing journalist paid over £200+ per hour call Doctors greedy for asking for £22 per hour for saving lives.
Without doctors we have no NHS.
A win for doctors is a win for all. It's not about turning out eachother. We need solidarity.

@dannyfuk99 @BangOnBombard @chatswithem They still estimate, by averaging a whole years usage, if this is too low, you can easily fall behind even if you’ve set up a direct debit. It is not pay as you go.

@BangOnBombard @chatswithem Thank you ⬆️ this.
They are doing it because it means they can read the meter and give accurate bills, rather than estimating.
That’s it, plus the government say they have to.
Don’t blame the energy company for something they are being told to do.

@BangOnBombard @chatswithem I used to have a pay as you go smart meter and was never in debt. After I moved I had a smart meter with British Gas, they ‘guessed’ my usage and failed to charge enough through the direct debit. I have just paid off the £750 they clocked up under charging. So much for control.

As someone who works in an organisation involved in smart metering I do not understand the scepticim around it.
It is purely a way for the energy networks to be better run in terms of managing demand etc.
All ‘technology’ has a shelf life and eventually needs replacing.
Your mum is already paying for a smart meter (it’s built into the standing charge whether you have one or not)
Smart metering has been great for me, saved me a fortune on my EV charging.

@Keir_Starmer “My Government” you really sound like a tin pot dictator.

@Keir_Starmer My pension went up by 1.7% after working 43 years in the NHS. Obviously you just want me to die.

Hospitals in England are laying off staff because they are being underfunded by a Labour goverment, and piecemeal privatisation is pushing up costs:
47% cutting services (43% are considering it )
37% cutting clinical posts 40%)
26% closing services (55%),
