UPDATE: Uganda Airlines will offer free ticket revalidation to passengers affected by the pause in its long-haul operations. The airline says flights to London and Mumbai will resume on March 7, 2026 following recent disruptions, while the Dubai route remains under monitoring.

We warmly welcome Ugandan students who have safely arrived at Entebbe International Airport this evening following a well-coordinated evacuation from Iran. We commend the @GovUganda, through @UgandaMFA for their tireless diplomatic engagement and coordination that made this evacuation possible. Under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. @mkainerugaba, and the coordination of Uganda’s Defence Advisor in Türkiye, Maj. Gen Bob Ogiki, the students were successfully organized and evacuated from Tehran in a 24-hour bus journey to the Gürbulak border post at the Turkey–Iran frontier. They were granted transit visas by the Government of Türkiye, before proceeding on an additional 18-hour journey to Istanbul. From Istanbul Airport, the students boarded Ethiopian Airlines and have now safely returned home. Thanks to @UgandaMFA, @MODVA_UPDF, and all partners involved for their swift action, coordination, and unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of Ugandans abroad. #OpenGovUg
