@agwithemma Where is the source of lime from America originate? Is it the freight cost that is the headache? I am from west Australia. Coastal lime is one of our sources but freight is one challenge.

Lime is being dropped off as soon as we pulled out of this field! There are a few fields with low pH so after harvest, lime is dumped on the field edge and then spread with a spreader according to the needs of the field based off soil sample results. Lime raises the pH which makes nutrients more available for the plants. It is expensive to spread though!

@axios Trade war won’t help but this has been an issue for a while. John Deere has priced themselves out of the market. All my clients would like to upgrade machines but new prices has limited the opportunity. John Deere needs to figure out how to manufacture at 30% less retail cost.

@BenHobley If it’s pasture there you be no problem spreading it. I’ve certainly had clients pick up backloads of lime this time of year and spread later.

Looking for some novel ideas for storing lime on farm for 3-5 months. Want to cart pre -harvest and spread post-harvest. Have seen a few ideas such as large square bale bunkers, just wondering what else people have done
